Design
At the first glance at both smartphones, it is clear that they are not cheap toys, but a premium class. Both the Mi 10 and the OnePlus 8 look very luxurious and literally pleasing to the eye.
This is mainly due to the modern color shade, curved edges of the back cover and display, but also the neat assembly of the rear cameras.
If we look at smartphones better, we will find that they have a lot in common and their design is very similar. Slightly smaller dimensions and up to 28 g less weight bring the OnePlus 8 to the forefront.
We also like the arrangement of the cameras in the middle of the back cover more. Although the evaluation of the appearance is very subjective and everyone likes something different, the technical specifications will not let us go. In this category, we lean towards OnePlus 8.
Display
We have nothing to complain about the display on any of the compared smartphones. Both are premium AMOLED panels with high pixel density and curved gamenami. Both still have an above-standard refresh rate 90 Hz.
Even the perforation of the display - a shot for the front camera - has the same position and decent undisturbed dimensions. Although we don't know some of the detailed parameters of the display from OnePlus, there will definitely be no abysmal differences.
OnePlus has a small disadvantage due to the smaller display size. However, its diagonal is only 0,12 inches shorter, which is only 3 mm, which is a negligible number.
Protection of both displays is standard Gorilla Glass.
There is not much to compare in this category and therefore we can say that both displays are more or less equal opponents.
Performance
When you look at the detailed parameters of the performance hardware, you will find only one difference. The Mi 10 is equipped with a newer and faster module Lwhile OnePlus uses LPDDR4x.
However, this also does not play a big role and both smartphones provide highly above-standard performance. None of them will disappoint and we dare say that for many of us, these "rockets" are even hardware oversized.
However, with almost the same hardware, software can mean a lot. Both smartphones run on the operating system Android 10, however, each of them uses its own software extension.
Software optimization and the frequency of updates can thus significantly affect performance. However, we know that both brands have very positive ratings in this area, which is why we are announcing a draw in this category as well.
Cameras
Cameras and camcorders in mobile phones have always been one of the most closely monitored and decisive parameters. It is no different today and the manufacturers are still ahead not only in megapixels, but fortunately also in the quality of the output files.
108 Mpx sensor with seven lenses, a total of 4 rear sensors, 8K video and 20 MPx front camera move to the first place Xiaomi Mi 10. Even the ultra wide angle sensor of the Mi 10 has slightly better parameters.
However, sometimes it is possible to achieve a better result even with weaker paper equipment, but we can evaluate it only when actually comparing photos. However, today we are comparing technical specifications and the Xiaomi Mi 10 has a clearly better one in the field of camera equipment.
Other equipment
There is not much to compare in this category either. Both the Xiaomi Mi 10 and the OnePlus 8 got the best. Dual SIM of the pair only supports OnePlus 8, the European version of the Mi 10 did not get this feature. However, both models have support 5G mobile networks.
Both are equipped with wireless technologies 6 WiFi aj Bluetooth 5.1 and both support as well dual GPS. Both have stereo speakers and neither the Mi 10 nor the OnePlus 8 have a 3,5 mm audio connector, which is a shame.
In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 10 has an infrared port, which, however, does not play a significant role for many users. That is why we are announcing a draw in this category as well.
Battery and charging
In the final lines of our table, you also saw the parameters related to the batteries and charging of both smartphones. Therefore, you can already evaluate that the Xiaomi Mi 10 is clearly better in this area.
It's not just because of the higher battery capacity. It is also thanks to convenient and fast wireless charging, or the possibility to charge other devices by so-called reverse charging. OnePlus 8 lags far behind in this category.
Prices
As always, we will mention that the price will always significantly influence the decision when choosing a smartphone for many users. Their financial capabilities reflect the fact that they will eventually reach for the device. Will it be the same now? Definitely a price?
We have to admit that both compared smartphones smartphones came to the European market with high cenami and the difference between the Xiaomi Mi 10 and the OnePlus 8 was huge against the "ten".
Just for the sake of interest, we will mention that the Mi 10 with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage was listed for 799 € and the same memory version of OnePlus 8 for 699 €.
However, both smartphones are already available together with discount coupons, so we will take into account the prices at which they can currently be obtained when comparing.
Xiaomi Mi 10 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage can currently be purchased for around 625 euros. OnePlus 8 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is now available for around 620 euros.

As you can see, the difference in prices is no longer so significant and therefore we can focus only on the parameters in the final evaluation.
Final rating
Making decisions is not easy, as both smartphones have very similar equipment and almost the same premium look. It would be ideal to have a Xiaomi Mi 10 with the dimensions and weight of the OnePlus 8 even with its lower price. However, this is not possible and we must lean towards one of them.
Our decision points to the Xiaomi Mi 10. It is due to better camera equipment, battery parameters and the MIUI superstructure, which suits us better. The price difference does not suppress these advantages by far, which is why the Mi 10 is our favorite.
However, we must add that we are also big fans of the OnePlus brand and their model with the number 8 is definitely not to be missed. If the price difference were as significant as when the two smartphones were introduced, we might be in favor of it.
