Xiaomi Mi Air 2 Pro: Where to buy?
New true-wireless headphones with the label Xiaomi Mi Air 2 Pro are currently available in the offer of several popular international sellers Banggood or Geekbuying.
*There is currently no coupon available, but we will try to arrange a new one during the working week.
We ordered these headphones from the seller Banggood.com from a Chinese warehouse. We completed the order on December 24, 2020, and the delivery service brought them to our home on January 18, 2021.
Packaging: Xiaomi accessories are missing
Headphones Xiaomi Mi Air 2 Pro they will also come to your home in a box of relatively larger dimensions. Since these are headphones, the size of the box almost resembles that of a smartphone.
The black box with the image of the headphones will also offer the basic technical specifications of the product. After unpacking it, the headphones themselves are in the matte black case on top.
Below are the included accessories in the form of spare silicone tips in up to four sizes (the fifth pair is directly on the headphones). Everyone can really choose.
The package also includes a short charging cable with a modern and universal USB type C connector or brief instructions for use.
Construction: Matte black and touch buttons
The headphones themselves are pre-installed in their standard compartments in a charging box. This case is made of matt black plastic materials, while it looks really elegant.
The hinges on the back, which ensure opening, are metal and strong enough. They are easy to open, but at the same time they hold in place and the case does not close unnecessarily, as in the case of cheaper competitors.
At first glance, the headphones look premium and the manufacturer decides not to be ashamed of the packaging, case or accessories.
Device layout
The front of the case is blank, it only contains a cutout for easier opening with one hand. The top edge is just as empty.
It's a little more interesting on the bottom side. It contains a USB type C connector for charging as well as mandatory recycling information.
The left side edge is empty and on the right edge there is a physical button known from other Xiaomi headphones, it is used for quick pairing.
The back contains the mentioned metal hinge and also an icon that indicates the support of wireless charging. It is this page that contains the coil that needs to be attached to the charging pad. This alternative form of charging is also available.
When opened, cavities and compartments appear in the shape of the headphones themselves and marking the left and right sides. The interior is made in glossy black.
The headphones themselves are also available in matt black and feature two charging pins on the underside. The headphone bar contains the side marking (L / R) and model designation information.
The headphone offers a microphone designed for telephoning, as well as a secondary speaker grille or a sensor that monitors pulling in / out.
There is a silicone tip at the main speaker opening, which is replaceable, and there is also a glossy surface on the body of the headphones, which is a touch and is used for gestures.
Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0, USB type C and wireless charging
In terms of connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0 technology with low battery consumption is available. Thanks to this technology, fast pairing is ensured and on smartphones with the MIUI 12 system even without switching to the smartphone settings.
Connecting and even repeating it in everyday use is really fast. Just open the case and the headphones are instantly connected to your smartphone. We did not notice any outages or inappropriate disconnections of one or both headphones, which is definitely positive.
There is also a USB type C connector for fast charging, but also support for wireless charging, which we will talk about more in the chapter below about battery life.
Sound: Depends on taste
The hardware was chosen by a Chinese manufacturer of really high quality, and in this case we are dealing with 12 millimeter LCP converters with an impedance of 32 ohms and a low latency of only 100 ms. This value will ensure smooth sound without delay not only when watching videos, but also when playing dynamic games.
The sound profile of these headphones is very interesting, balanced, there is no lack of depth or a quality bass component. However, it is not inappropriate, electronic music was listened to very well, but also rock, but it will also show its qualities when speaking, for example when listening to podcasts. This is exactly what we liked during the testing and we were satisfied with the sound profile.
A big advantage is also the construction with silicone tips, which perfectly seals the ear hole and ensures a smooth musical experience. There is also an ANC (active noise cancellation) function, ie the elimination of ambient noise, which uses up to three microphones.
However, this function can also be adapted to transparent listening. Thanks to this function, you will be able to hear surrounding sounds such as the noise of an incoming car or a conversation if someone around you addresses you, for example.
Touch control + voice assistant
The headphones also have a glossy touch surface on their body, which is used to control various functions. You can try different gestures of tapping or holding the touch pad, and using them is really intuitive.
For example, you can use touch gestures to pause or resume a song (similar to extending and plugging in headphones). However, you must skip songs or change the volume via your smartphone or connected watch.
There is no activation of the ANC mode resp. transparent playback, but also the activation of the voice assistant (Google Assistant / Amazon Alexa). Thanks to the integrated microphones, which you can also use when making a phone call, you can enter voice commands directly via the headphones, for example to change the set lighting.
Battery life
When it comes to endurance per charge, in this case we distinguish between the endurance of the headphones themselves and the endurance in combination with charging in the box. The basic endurance of headphones with active suppression of ambient noise is 5 hours of listening. With ANC mode off, it is then 7 hours of listening.
In combination with recharging in a box, the resulting endurance is at the level of 28 hours. Our testing coincides with this data, and for one separate charge of the headphones outside the box, we ranged from 6 to 7 hours per charge.
The box can be charged in two ways. It is a fast cable charge via the universal USB type C connector (according to the manufacturer, fast charge is only 10 minutes of charging for 90 minutes of listening).
We also tested wireless charging, but it is quite slow. We tested using a 10W Baseus wireless charger and the headphones will take more than 3 hours to charge. By default, with cable, this time is less than half, it will take approximately one and a half hours.
Price and product availability
New true-wireless headphones with the label Xiaomi Mi Air 2 Pro are currently only available in the original Chinese version and the manufacturer does not offer a global version with official Slovak or Czech distribution.
However, the headphones are already available from popular international retailers such as Banggood or Geekbuying.
