If you use electric scooters, you certainly did not miss the news about the upcoming mandatory contract insurance for these practical vehicles, which are especially popular with people in cities. Thanks to the portal tvnoviny.sk we know the official statement of the spokesperson of the Ministry of the Interior and also the approximate price from our neighbors from the Czech Republic.
PZP has not yet been introduced, the government is not keeping up
"The ministry had this directive ready, but since the government was changing, there were early elections, it did not have time to be approved," Pavol Kirinovič, spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, told tvnoviny.sk.
According to his other words, the approval of this new law will be discussed in the parliament in the coming weeks. We can expect fresh information soon.
Estimated cost of insurance
Slovak insurance companies cannot comment on the price at the moment, so we have to estimate the price on the basis of other European member states. The neighboring Czech Republic already has an amendment prepared before us, and their first insurance company also published the price of the product.
The amount was mentioned in the report 30 € per year, which is comparable to the price of insurance for a small motorcycle. Some other portals and news sites reported prices over 80 € in a year, which we didn't want to believe and it really seemed like an excessive amount.
Such high insurance would clearly demotivate most riders. Lower insurance around 30 € seems significantly more realistic to us as well.
The issue is the registration of scooters
Since the electric scooter has no table and the possibility of applying a registration table, the Ministry must decide on the form of registration. Ján Urbančík from the voltride.sk store said that Slovakia can use the same solution as they have in Germany. Electric scooters registered here have special stickers, which also contain information about insurance for police officers.
New directive of the European Parliament
New rules for compulsory contract insurance for electric scooters approved by the European Parliament (EP). They will come into force already this year.
All users of electric scooters or even segways that reach maximum speed will have to take out a PZP higher than 25 km/h. However, this is not the only rule of the new directive.
Owners of electric vehicles with a maximum speed of more than 14 km/h and a weight of more than 25 kilograms.
The electric bicycle also reaches a speed higher than 25 km/h.
Interesting that he no longer needs insurance.
it will come to that too... milk everything...
The directive and the decision of the European court clearly state that an ebike is a bicycle because it is necessary to pedal to achieve speed
Can the category above 25 km/h ride on cycle paths and normal paths? (observing the 25km/h limit, of course)
Not a scooter is a vehicle, not a bicycle
and what about scooters that are up to 25 km/h and weigh up to 25 kilos, they don't have to pay? why suddenly 14 km/h what happened to the next change? I heard up to 25 km/h and up to 25 kilos .. at least that's how it should be .. what kind of change? 14 km/h there is no drop!!! that will be delusional! they all have a maximum speed of at least 25 km/h!!! I won't have to pay for this condition, e.g. full ninebot max G2.. but also all xiaomi urban scooters or kukirin m4 pro... it's an urban scooter
That's how it was announced from the beginning, which was dealt with by PZP. And urban scooters fall under the 25 kg category, so they are in the exception, also the Ninebot Max G2, it has exactly 24,3 kg.
They should also have a driver's license, because they do not know the laws. For children, it is a weapon.
