Design and display
Gaming smartphones usually excel in their design and top-notch display panel. Lenovo brings a revolutionary dual design with two batteries, game buttons and a processor or fan located in the middle. However, the metal frame is relatively weak, as shown by endurance tests. However, the smartphone offers a top-of-the-line 6,92 ″ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz.
Asus brings his ROG Phone 5 in a durable construction that also offers game buttons and an interesting back wall that displays various shapes thanks to a smaller rear screen. The equipment also includes a 6,78 ″ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, a touch frequency of 300 Hz and an ultra-low touch latency of 24,3 ms.
Third, Xiaomi offers with her model Black Shark 4 Pro also game buttons and strong vibrations for a better gaming experience. Even in this case, however, it is a similar equipment in the form of a display. It contains 6,67 ″ AMOLED with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and up to 720 Hz sampling frequency.
Power and memory
Three gaming smartphones offer the same and most powerful equipment on the market. It is a 5 nm processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G, which is complemented by the Adreno 660 graphics chip. This combination will ensure the smooth running of even more graphically demanding games from the Play Store.
The smartphone from Lenovo will offer 12/16 GB RAM, and its competitors, Asus and Xiaomi, will subsequently offer 8/12 16 GB RAM. In terms of memory, fast UFS 3.1 storage is available for all three devices. Lenovo and Xiaomi offer versions up to 512 GB and Asus up to 256 GB.
Game buttons, modes and accessories
If we look at the smartphone from Lenova, it is equipped for the game load really exemplary. It contains 4 ultrasonic zones that will offer you active vibrations from your game, as well as a pair of capacitive buttons for better and faster reactions. The equipment also includes a pair of active fans as well as RGB backlighting of the game logo Legion on the back of the device. Lenovo also introduces a software mode in its extension that offers fast streaming content to platforms such as YouTube or Twitch via a motorized front camera in just one click.
Spoločnosť Asus brings its smartphone with a pair of capacitive buttons to help game responses, and in addition to RGB elements, this smartphone also offers a full-fledged secondary screen on the back. Cooling is provided by technology Game Cool 5 together with the game superstructure, which also includes the Armour Crate performance software manager and there is also the option to purchase additional AeroActive Cooler 5 accessories with active fans from Asus.
The third model from the company Xiaomi it's a little different. Rounded construction of the model Black Shark 4 Pro it contains boldly sharper shapes on the back, but the surprise is hidden in the side edge. There is a couple here slide-out physical game buttons, which, according to the manufacturer, should offer better response and feedback than those of the competition.
In terms of cooling, we have two-layer fluid cooling with software monitoring and power control. The first layer is directly below the display, while the second layer cools the processor, graphics chip, memory and other internal elements, while also providing faster charging.
Camera comparison
Three gaming smartphones will offer a main 64 MPx camera, which is to ensure quality images even in more demanding conditions. Lenovo is adding a 16 MPx ultra-wide angle camera to its sensor. Asus also offers a 13 MPx ultra-wide and 5 MPx macro sensor. Xiaomi then contributes to its main sensor with an 8 MPx ultra-wide angle and 5 MPx macro lens.
Lenovo Legion The gaming smartphone also supports 8K (24 fps) video recording, Asus goes even further and its ROG Phone 5 offers 8K (30 fps) video. Xiaomi will then only offer 4K video (30 fps).
The big advantage is the retractable front camera, which Lenovo will offer in a horizontal position with the intention of streaming content. It offers up to 44 MPx and software add-ons for fast streaming of content to popular platforms. The front camera of the Asus model has a front camera resolution of 24 MPx, Xiaomi then has a 20 MPx front sensor.
Endurance per charge
It offers the highest battery capacity in this case ROG Phone 5 from Asusu - 6000 mAh. Paradoxically, however, it offers the slowest charge only at the level of 65W. Xiaomi has the smallest battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, but the package includes the fastest charger up to 120W.
A kind of imaginary compromise from both sides is the model Lenovo Legion. It offers a battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh, but a dual charger with a total power of up to 90W. The dual charger has two USB C-type ports, as well as two cables with a USB C-type connector.
Price and availability of smartphones
The most available game alternative from this trio is the model Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro. This smartphone is currently selling for approximately € 520. A more expensive alternative is hot news Lenovo Legion Duel 2, which starts at approximately € 800.
The most expensive model is Asus ROG Phone 5. There are several versions on sale with different prices, and the Taiwanese manufacturer even offers optional gaming accessories in the form of external fans, "gamepads" and others. Currently, the lowest version starts in Slovakia just under a thousand, at a value of €999.
Final rating: Lenovo Legion, Asus ROG or Xiaomi Black Shark?
As today's comparison showed, it's really hard to choose the best gaming smartphone. Lenovo impresses with its revolutionary design and efficient cooling, with six gaming ultrasonic and capacitive zones. However, it has reserves in resistance, as in the resistance test he just couldn't stand it.
Asus ROG Phone 5 offers capacitive buttons and even a secondary screen on the back or a number of optional accessories. Xiaomi goes for this as an alternative in the form of sharper shapes and physical sliding game buttons and, traditionally, attacks the competition with the lowest price. The model is presented only for China and here the price after conversion from yuan is approximately € 520, which is a really unbelievable price for a smartphone with such equipment.
However, the Black Shark 4 Pro model has not yet reached the global market, so we cannot state the price for Europe, but it will definitely be higher. Our resellers may offer a global ROM at a much lower price than competitors, but we can only argue about that.
You will not make a mistake with any of them. If you want something available and you don't mind hardware game buttons, reach for Xiaomi. If you are interested in a revolutionary design, integrated fans, ultrasonic zones or you like to stream games online via the built-in mode, here is Lenovo Legion and if you don't have a problem investing more in optional accessories, for example, here it is Asus with capacitive buttons on your ROG Phone 5.
