OnePlus CEO Pete Lau last week announced a very surprising news that the company would become part of Oppo but remain independent.
Nothing changes for the user
Pete Lau has currently become the Product Director of Oppo, and from this position he will oversee the projects of both companies. These companies should ultimately work independently and the end user should not notice any changes. The merger process should be completed by the end of this year.
A document has appeared in Evan Blass's Twitter account that the integration will make OnePlus a brand in Oppo, but it will continue to operate as an independent entity.

It says that by merging companies, they will have more resources to create even better products. Earlier this year, the two companies merged their research departments.
Is the end of OxygenOS coming?
According to the document, OnePlus and Oppo employees are prohibited from commenting on the OxygenOS and ColorOS operating systems. Pete Lau claims that the OxygenOS extension will still run on OnePlus facilities outside China, but the question remains as to how long this promise will last.
On OnePlus devices in the home China, the original HydrogenOS (the Chinese version of the OxygenOS superstructure) has already been replaced by ColorOS, the superstructure used by Oppo. Whether something like this will happen in the global market is still a mystery.
Owners of OnePlus smartphones highly praise the OxygenOS superstructure, especially due to its speed and practical features. Certainly users would not want to lose this comfort.
We will see what the merger of these two companies will bring in the future. We hope that it will not be the same smartphones with only a different logo and a different superstructure. We would like them to still be different and design-wise unique smartphones.
