Ouvis AMR5: Design and construction of a mini PC
The compact body of this computer has dimensions of only 156.1 x 132.6 x 71.8 mm. It is not a typical square body of mini computers, with a monitor attachment, quite the opposite. This computer has a cuboid shape, rounded edges and a unique polycarbonate design, with RGB backlighting on the sides that you can customize.
The upper edge changes the shape of the entire computer with a small cylinder, which also serves as the power button and also as a rotary switch for power modes. Four non-slip feet on the bottom ensure stability on your work table.
There are also grills for cooling, which is actively engaged especially in Performance mode, and an interesting magnetic right side wall that reveals the improvement options for RAM memory and SSD storage.
Thanks to this design, it also has a low weight of only 1,5 kilograms. With such a light computer, you can easily transfer your portable office to the so-called "home office" and you can also use it as a game machine on the go.
However, it is important to emphasize that you will not get accessories from the manufacturer, so you have to use your own. And what is actually in the package? We will look at this in the upcoming chapter.
Contents of the package
You will find the mini computer itself in the box Ouvis AMR5 wrapped in protective film. You can connect the monitor in three ways, but the package includes a basic HDMI 1.4 cable with support for Full HD resolution.
You will also find here a power supply to the network with a local terminal (EU Plug, 220-240 V / 50-60 Hz), as well as a brief instruction manual in English.
Performance: The AMD Ryzen 7 5700U chip is responsible for this
In the technical specifications, one specific data immediately caught our eye. It is an octa-core processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700U (it is clocked at 1,8 GHz, with Turbo option up to 4,3 GHz for a short time), which we would definitely not expect in this price category.
This processor is made with modern 7 nm technology, TSMC's manufacturing process, and is also complemented by active cooling and a shared AMD Radeon Graphics graphics chip. The chip is a proven choice for gaming laptops with model year 2022 and 2023, but they can't even come close to the Ouvis mini computer in terms of price.
We couldn't really talk about the lack of performance in everyday office work. It can also respond to 2160p video playback without any major problems, even with a pair of connected monitors. Where we can find reserves is the graphics chip. Some game titles cut down the level of graphic details too much, but we'll talk more about that in the corresponding chapter.
Other equipment includes up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. However, in the bowels of this computer, under the magnetic right side wall, there is one more free DDR4 slot. The maximum value for configuring your own RAM memory is 64 GB.
The internal storage is of the M.2 SSD type and has a capacity of 512 GB. However, with the current size of game titles available on the Game Pass platform, this is a rather marginal value. For example Forza Horizon 5 cuts 119 GB right away, and after the first start, the user has only 475 GB of space available. Even in this case, however, a free M.2 slot is available, with support for storage expansion up to 4 TB.
This is how the benchmark tests turned out
We subjected the mini computer to several well-known benchmark performance tests. Our selection also included verified sources such as Cinebench a PC Mark. The results confirm the focus of this computer as a workstation, as well as a device suitable for lighter gaming use.
You can see all the results in the photos below:
Office work and multimedia content
We first subjected the computer to a multimedia content playback test. It has three performance modes – Silent, Auto and Performance. And even on the quietest mode, we didn't notice a problem playing content in 4K resolution (2160p). Loading movies on streaming platforms such as HBO Max or SkyShowtime also took place without major problems.
However, we decided to test this computer also as a workstation, i.e. a device that, thanks to its compact dimensions, you can theoretically carry between home and office. In this case, we switched to automatic performance mode (Auto), which included online and offline editing of documents and tables, as well as creating articles in web environments via the Google Chrome browser. The computer kept up with our pace and did not hesitate even with dozens of cards turned on.
We measured noise at work using a mobile application for measuring ambient noise. You can view indicative results for individual performance modes below:
It passed the test of modern game titles
First of all, we need to highlight all three computer performance modes. The biggest difference in the performance and fluidity of the computer's reactions naturally occurred with the highest Performance mode, which we also used when testing game titles. So let's go to Microsoft Store and let's take a look at the latest as well as generation-old game titles from the Game Pass subscription.
Let's move on to the exclusive "next-gen" game titles. We have installed a game title on our computer Forza Horizon 5 a Forza Motorsport (2023). After installing both games (more than 110 GB), they asked for a driver update or an update related to the graphics chip.
Considering that these are the latest game titles that are really graphically demanding, it was rather an average gaming experience. The game, after recognizing the computer, reduced the graphic details too much, to a medium to low value. In both cases, the "FPS" value was at the level of 40-42.
However, if we replaced these game titles with a generation older game of the same category, i.e Forza Horizon 4, respectively. Forza Motorsport 7, the gaming experience has been greatly improved. The increase in "FPS" and the fluidity of loading shadows and graphic details was incomparable. The manufacturer also declares enough performance for the game title GTA V. In this case, however, due to the significant reduction in graphic details, we would rather choose a generation older title from this series.
We also tried less graphically demanding game titles, such as City Skylines II. It did not disappoint us and the gaming experience was trouble-free. The computer also managed a popular one Minecraft Launcher, so you don't have to hesitate to launch the Minecraft world.
In addition, the computer can also handle online game titles, which mainly burden the RAM memory, when playing via an Internet browser. If you feel like improving its capacity, that option is here, just like with fast SSD storage. This is where we would add some extra capacity to the second slot, given the size of the current game titles.
Exemplary connectivity also includes USB-C
As we already mentioned, the package does not include computer peripherals. You have to provide the mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitors yourself. However, the gaming mini computer supports up to 3 connected monitors, with a maximum resolution of up to 4K (3860 x 2160 pixels). However, these monitors have different ports, so you can use HDMI, DisplayPort, as well as the modern and universal USB-C connector.
On the front, there are also a pair of USB-A ports (USB 3.0), as well as a 3,5 mm audio connector for connecting wired headphones or other audio output. In the upper part, there is also a circular switch on and off, which also serves as a power mode switch (Silent, Auto and Performance), which is also complemented by a stylish RGB backlight.
Let's go to the back side, where, in addition to the aforementioned video outputs, there is another pair of USB-A ports (USB 3.0). There is also a LAN port (up to 1000 Mbps) for a wired Internet connection and also a DC port for connecting the power supply (it has a local end to the network - EU Plug).
Software: Windows 11 Pro
The price of the device also includes a license for the operating system. It is specifically about Windows 11 Pro, which is additionally modified by the manufacturer with a section in which you go through synchronization with a Microsoft account. You don't have to fill in this step, and thanks to that, the first activation is a little faster. You go directly to creating the first user.
Apart from that, however, it is a standard license with all pluses and minuses. There is also the Microsoft Store, and we had no problem with updating built-in applications, locating the system or the application store itself, and installing game titles. In terms of software, we commend the manufacturer.
Final rating
Mini computer Ouvis AMR5 it offers a really surprising level of performance for its low price. In addition to office work or use as a multimedia center in the home, it also impresses with a decent graphics chip that will provide a good gaming experience.
Our basic configuration limited us slightly with its storage. So we recommend upgrade your RAM and storage using free ports or wait for a possible higher product configuration.

The PC is quite fast. Windows itself and programs start quickly. I use it as a video player for the TV. However, it has a shortcoming, namely the horrible Realtek 8821CE wifi card. The card connects to the wifi AP and the line speed does not exceed 72Mbps. The same slow connection is also in the 5GHz band. Changing different drivers and switching to Win10 didn't help. And I have an AP 3 meters from the PC. My old laptop connects at a speed of 867Mbps and my Samsung Galaxy mobile at 400Mbps. When streaming video with highsim they cut through the data flow.
The new WiFi card from AliExpress arrived and now the connection is as it should be. The line speed of the connection to the AP is around 1000Mbps and the Internet is finally reaching its full potential. Conclusion: if you still sacrifice some €9-10 for a new card, you will be satisfied, my PC sleeps perfectly.
