We bring you another exclusive review of the new robotic vacuum cleaner, which is still going on sale. This is an improved flag model Dream Bot Z10 Pro with automatic emptying.
We tested recently Dream Bot L10 Pro, which is one of the best robotic vacuum cleaners among those we have had the opportunity to try. We have high expectations from the new model, which also has a station for automatic emptying. We'll see if they fill up. Read our detailed review, which will include a test of the quality of vacuuming and moping.
Where to buy Dreame Bot Z10 Pro?
We had a robotic vacuum cleaner available directly from the manufacturer even before it was officially put on sale. You can currently buy it in the official Dreame store on Aliexpress. It will be delivered to you express from a Polish warehouse, while VAT is already included in the price of the goods.
Basic parameters in brief
We have already written about the Dreame Bot Z10 Pro robotic vacuum cleaner on our Xiaomiplanet.sk website. This is a complete novelty from the Dreame workshop, which offers high suction power, up to 4000 Pa. They are available 4 levels of suckingthat you choose in the application.
Well known system Lidar will take care of the navigation in the home. Thanks to the space localization and mapping systems, the vacuum cleaner can effectively avoid obstacles and also creates a 3D model of the space in which it moves. We have already tested the avoidance of sudden obstacles with the L10 Pro model, where it worked well. We expect the same result here.
The vacuum cleaner can overcome a maximum 20 mm obstacle, similar to other robotic vacuum cleaners. The waste container has a volume of 400 ml, but the vacuum cleaner also comes with a station for automatic emptying with a dust bag with a capacity of 4 L. The water tank has 150 ml.
The rechargeable battery inside the vacuum cleaner has a capacity 5 200 mAhwhich should suffice for 2.5 h cleaning households (approximately 250 m2).
Contents of the package
The Dreame Bot Z10 Pro robotic vacuum cleaner was brought to us by a courier with the words: "I have such a bigger package for you from China."
The dimensions of the package are 52 x 38.5 x 44 cm and the vacuum cleaner box is protected by another cardboard box. A plastic handle protrudes in the middle, so the box is easier to carry, even though it is relatively heavy.
Inside, in the upper part, we find clear instructions for use, a three-arm whisk with brushesnami, spare dust bag, mop and power cable placed in a cardboard partition box. A vacuum cleaner wrapped in a protective film is stored under them.
At the very bottom is a docking station for automatic emptying, also protected by foil. All elements are thus packed very precisely and are protected against any damage.
Design, quality of workmanship and layout of elements
We received the Dreame Bot Z10 Pro robotic vacuum cleaner in a dark gray color. The vacuum cleaner itself has a glossy top, but the rest is matte. In the upper part there is the Lidar system, 3 buttons for control and an opening lid, under which we find a container for dirt.
There are sensors around the perimeter of the vacuum cleaner that prevent it from hitting obstacles and exhales where air is removed from the vacuum cleaner. One half of the peripheral part also serves as a bumper, which is slightly compressible so that the vacuum cleaner detects a possible impact.
The underside is traditionally a place for the main rotary brush, which can be removed and cleaned, or even washed. In addition to the main brush, there is also a small, three-armed whisk used to sweep dirt from the edges of rooms and corners. Sensors against falling down stairs also have their place here. In addition to conventional vacuum cleaners, there are also a pair of holes that serve to empty the dust container into a bag in the charging station.
The aforementioned charging station is relatively large and also includes a pedestal on which the vacuum cleaner "climbs". Dreame Bot Z10 Pro empties from the bottom. This is a different system than the recently tested Viomi S9. Therefore, the charging station is significantly larger compared to the Viomi S9, its height is almost 50 cm.
In our case, this whole charging station with a waste bag is matt, gray, which seems a bit cheap. The large pedestal also does not add to the elegance. The waste bag is accessible from the top, where we find an opening lid. The front side contains only the brand logo and a white LED.
As for the quality of workmanship, it is at a good level, despite the fact that almost everything is made of plastic.
Pairing and getting to know the application
The vacuum cleaner works with the Xiaomi Home application, as it belongs to the Xiaomi ecosystem. The application automatically detected a Dreame Bot Z10 Pro vacuum cleaner nearby, so we did not have to search for it in the list of devices or scan any QR code.
Adding is fast and hassle-free, just select your home WiFi network, fill in the password and the vacuum cleaner will automatically pair with the application, where you can add a new device to your own room.
The home screen is the same as other Dreame vacuum cleaners. We will find the map (after the first vacuuming), the size of the area in m2, the time of the last vacuuming, a battery symbol that unfortunately does not show the percentage status, switching between cleaning the room, the whole map or zone, as well as the management of maps and virtual walls.
At the bottom of the screen you will also find buttons for starting vacuuming and a button for charging. However, while writing the review, we received update vacuum cleaner firmware from version 3.5.8_1028 to version 4.1.7_1056. She brought it great improvements in the main screen view.
Finally, we were able to display the percentage of the battery as well as setting the level of vacuuming and moping directly from the main screen. You can see a comparison of the main screen of the old and new versions on the screenshots below.
First power on, space recognition and modes
The first vacuuming is marked by the discovery of space. The map is displayed in sequence on the main screen of the application. We tested the vacuum cleaner in a 3-room apartment measuring 69 m2, but since the vacuum cleaner does not get into the bathroom or toilet due to higher thresholds and we also did not let it into the closet, the vacuumed area was 34 m2.
The first vacuuming took 45 minutes, but most of the following were faster (29-32 minutes). The map was quite pointlessly divided into only 2 rooms, of which the second is only a small part behind the couch, which is not really a room.
The sensor impact prevention system works very well and the vacuum cleaner hits almost no obstacles. It can also effectively avoid an unexpected obstacle that we have placed in front of the vacuum cleaner during its operation. It works the same as the recently tested Dreame Bot L10 Pro model.
There are 4 levels of vacuuming - quiet, standard, powerful and turbo. The default mode is standard. When moping, we have a choice of 3 levels - low, medium and high water flow.
Vacuum quality
Dreame Bot Z10 Pro has a suction power of up to 4000 Pa. Vacuum quality is good even in standard mode, but some dirt is removed by turbo mode. The biggest problem for a vacuum cleaner is solid particles such as small stones on a shoe mat.
The vacuum cleaner is also not a big friend with long-pile carpets, on which it can sometimes spend more time than would be necessary. The fact that the vacuum cleaner sometimes bothers on such a carpet can also be seen on the map from the vacuum cleaner, where its route is displayed. The strange thing is that it only happens sometimes. In most cases, the vacuum cleaner passed through the carpets without any problems.
We have traditionally tested the quality of vacuuming by spreading breadcrumbs mixed with coffee and red lentils on the kitchen floor. You can see what it looked like before vacuuming in the following photo.
After the first vacuuming, the floor was not completely clean. The vacuum cleaner has sufficient suction power, but the three-arm whisk took care of spreading dirt on the already vacuumed places.
If you accidentally spill a large amount of coffee, flour or anything else, the vacuum cleaner will send the area to be vacuumed at least twice, ideally three times. Even after the second vacuuming, the floor was not completely clean, again due to the whisk, which scattered the dirt to different places.
Moping quality
The vacuum cleaner has a mop that attaches to the bottom of the vacuum cleaner. The water is poured directly into the tank on which the cloth is attached. The mop is a bit smaller than we are used to and due to the smaller area of the cloth on the mop, we had some concerns about the quality of the mop.
We spilled water diluted with cocoa and food coloring on the floor in our kitchen. Before mopping, it looked like this:
After the first moping, the vacuum cleaner only smeared the stain on the floor.
After the second attempt, he was able to remove some stains. The third mopping slightly improved the overall result, but it is only average. The small area of the mop and the weak water supply caused that even this robotic vacuum cleaner does not excel in the quality of mopping. With dried spotsnami he can't cope at all.
Map customization options
Bookmark Map Management contains a map that is currently used for vacuuming or mopping. A maximum of 3 maps can be saved, which can then be switched manually. The vacuum cleaner can also be used in multi-storey spaces.
After clicking on the map you want to edit, there are 3 options: merging rooms, dividing or renaming. It is still not possible to choose your own room names. There are only a few predefined to choose from, but they are sufficient for ordinary flats or houses.
Further map customizations can be found on the main screen. It is possible to insert the so-called virtual walls and restricted areas for vacuuming or mopping. Their use works well and the vacuum cleaner relatively precisely avoids forbidden zones or virtual walls.
Endurance per charge
The rechargeable battery inside the vacuum cleaner has a capacity of 5 mAh, which according to the manufacturer should be sufficient for 200 hours of household cleaning (approximately 2.5 m2). We tested endurance on a single charge in all four vacuuming modes.
We always started vacuuming with a fully charged battery. When capacity dropped to 15%, the vacuum cleaner announced that it was returning to recharge to the docking station. In the household where we tested we have 2 small carpets, the rest is a hard floor.
- silent mode - 3 h 17 mi, 156 m2
- standard mode - 3 h, 142 m2
- strong mode - 2 h 22 min, 113 m2
- turbo mode - 1 h 20 min, 67 m2
The manufacturer has declared a endurance of 2.5 h and approximately 250 m2 is quite inaccurate. For example, the vacuum cleaner lasted up to 3 hours in the standard mode, but it only vacuumed 142 m2. Charging from 15% to 100% takes almost 4 hours, which is a relatively long time.
Settings and noise
There are several customization options in the settings. Let's look at the more interesting ones. The device settings offer switching on / off 3D obstacle avoidance, setting the volume and language with which the vacuum cleaner announces the start and end of vacuuming, error messages and the like. There are 9 world languages, but there is no Slovak or Czech.
It is also possible to turn on an increase in performance when vacuuming carpets, a child lock, when the buttons on the vacuum cleaner are deactivated, or to set automatic resumption of vacuuming after returning to recharging.
It is also possible to set the automatic collection of waste into a bag in the charging station, which can be switched off or set automatically after every one, two or three completed vacuumings. You can schedule the vacuuming for a specific day and time, even repeatedly.
There is also a history where you can see previous vacuums as well as the total area, time and number of cleanings performed. It is also interesting to display the current status of the filter, side brush, main brush and sensors.
As for the noise, we measured it with a sound level meter in all four modes:
- quiet: 55 dB
- standard: 57 dB
- strong: 60 dB
- turbo: 70 dB
Short comparison with Viomi S9
Compared to the recently tested Viomi S9, it is a different type of vacuum cleaner, although it is not visible at first glance. As we mentioned in the introduction, both vacuum cleaners have a different automatic emptying system. While the Viomi S9 is fed for emptying directly onto the dirt container, the Dreame Bot Z10 Pro is emptied from the bottom via holes in the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.
Another difference is the location of the waste container in the vacuum cleaner. Viomi S9 has a combined container for dirt and water, which is inserted into the vacuum cleaner from the back. The Dreame Bot Z10 Pro has an opening lid from the top, under which there is a dirt container and a mop with a water tank is installed from below.
Perhaps the most interesting difference is avoiding obstacles. Viomi S9 is oriented by impacts, while Dreame Bot Z10 Pro, thanks to sensors and 3D scanning, effectively avoids obstacles and bypasses them in 95% completely without touch.
Dreame Bot Z10 Pro: Final evaluation
The Dreame Bot Z10 Pro is an improved flagship model that provides a system for automatically emptying the dirt tank. This recent trend has worked very well, eliminating the impractical dumping of dust from the waste container.
The vacuum cleaner also offers above-average suction power, up to 4000 Pa, 3D space scanning and a system that allows it to avoid obstacles. The Dreame Bot Z10 Pro does not run into obstacles, but effectively avoids them. The quality of the vacuum is very good, but the moping is weaker.
We also praise the improvement of the environment in the application, which now offers all the most frequently used settings available directly on the home screen, where the map of the space is also displayed. We perceive as a slight negative a large and not very aesthetic station for emptying dirt.
