A subsidiary of the Chinese giant Xioami, Dreame has several rod and robotic vacuum cleaners in its portfolio. We have already tested several of them and we use the Dreame T20 rod vacuum cleaner almost daily until now. But he already has a successor in the form of the Dreame T30.
In this review, you will learn what changes the Dreame T30 brings compared to its predecessor and whether it is really a better vacuum cleaner. We will look at the quality of the vacuum, the battery life and you will get acquainted with all its functions.

Rich packaging
We received the Dreame T30 in a black box measuring 80 x 35 x 16 cm, which is protected by another, ordinary box in which it is inserted. As we are used to with this brand from Dreame T20 or robotic vacuum cleaners, everything is packed very precisely.
The box is divided inside into two levels, where each component has its own compartment and everything is still wrapped in foil. At the top we find a clear instruction manual, under which is the main unit of the vacuum cleaner. In addition, the package also includes a number of accessories for vacuuming.
The main, floor nozzle and nozzle for vacuuming sofas are electric and inside they hide their own motor, which is used to drive the rotating brush. Both brushes have bristles only in the shape of a partial spiral, unlike some other vacuum cleaners, which have bristles over the entire surface of the brush. This brush should be more effective than a soft brush.
The remaining extensions are already classic, passive, without power supply (except for the narrow one, which shines). These include a narrow attachment for vacuuming less accessible spaces, a whisk and a wider attachment with the optional use of bristles.
All attachments can be connected directly to the main unit of the vacuum cleaner or to three extension attachments. The first is a classic long rod, the second is a flexible oven and the third is a joint. This is exactly the joint we missed with the Dreame T20 vacuum cleaner, so the manufacturer definitely pleased us with its delivery in the new version.
A charging adapter is a matter of course, and we also received a wall-mounting stand with dowels and screws. But we would rather welcome the attachment to the stand, which does not have to be attached to the wall, as it has for example Jimmy H8 Pro.
Design and quality of workmanship
Design is always a subjective matter, but from our point of view it is a very successful product. The vacuum cleaner is elegant and, thanks to its colorful design, it fits into every household, unlike the brand Jimmy, which often comes with a blue or purple main rod and also a brightly colored rotating brush.
Dreame chooses more conservative and neutral colors. We also like the surface finish of the main bar, which has been given a grid pattern. All parts are plastic, but the quality is at a very good level. Everything fits together nicely, except for a smaller clearance between the main bar and the vacuum cleaner.
The main unit hides a high-quality carbon-free motor that can generate 150 revolutions per minute. Below the engine compartment are filters, a cyclone and a dust container with a volume of 000 ml. The handle is the place for the main button that puts the vacuum cleaner into operation.
There is a battery under the handle and an LED display above it. It displays basic information that we will cover later and a pair of buttons - one to switch modes and the other to lock.
Controls and modes
As we have already mentioned in the previous chapter, the vacuum cleaner is switched on by a button in the form of a trigger on the handle. The reaction to its compression is very fast (the manufacturer states 0.5 s). The display activates immediately after pressing this button and shows the current mode.
There are four modes, which you can switch between using the small button on the display. Specifically, these are the following modes graded according to the suction power: eco, medium, turbo. When using one of the electric nozzles, a fourth mode is also available - auto.
In automatic mode, the vacuum cleaner can intelligently adjust the suction force according to the surface to be vacuumed. Automatic switching works very well and you can immediately hear and feel the change in performance when switching from a carpet to a hard floor, for example.
The lock button on the display ensures that it is not necessary to hold the trigger on the handle during the whole vacuuming, but holding it is kind of natural when holding the vacuum cleaner, so we did not need this function at all.
The LED display of the vacuum cleaner shows more data. Here you will find information about the current mode, the remaining vacuuming time and the current level of dirt in the form of a graph. This level varies depending on whether you are vacuuming more or less polluted areas. Due to the dirt, the color around the perimeter of the display also changes - green, orange and red.
In our experience, however, this figure is relatively inaccurate. Even when repeatedly vacuuming an already clean floor, we showed a medium to high level of pollution.
Vacuum quality and our observations from everyday vacuuming
We used the vacuum cleaner almost daily for several weeks. During this time we vacuumed very pleasantly and the quality of vacuuming is at a good level. It removes ordinary dust as well as coarser dirt very well. It is a bit worse with solid particles, such as small stones or rice, for example.
Despite the higher suction power, up to 190 AW or 27 Pa, these hard particles sometimes do not reach the dust container. Namimoreover, they remain rotating around the brush in the floor nozzle and fall out after switching off the vacuum cleaner. But most stick vacuum cleaners have this problem.
However, we also found other weaknesses. As with the Dreame T20, the new model has a hard time vacuuming fine carpets with long pile, especially when using the automatic mode.
This automatically increases performance when it hits the carpet, so that the vacuum cleaner clings to the carpet so much that it is difficult to handle. If we stopped on such a carpet, the floor nozzle immediately came completely attached to the carpet, the brush stopped and the vacuum cleaner detected its blockage.
The positive is the joint, which ensures that you can get under the bed or sofa with a vacuum cleaner. A separate joint has the advantage over placing the joint in the middle of the main bar, because in this way a longer part from the joint to the floor nozzle is available, so that you also vacuum the more distant places under the sofa, for example.
The disadvantage is that the joint does not hold too tightly. It has happened to us several times that our joints bend during the vacuuming of the floor. It is therefore necessary to get used to vacuuming with it.
Short comparison with Dreame T20
Since we have been using the Dreame T20 rod vacuum cleaner since we tested it in the editorial office, we can directly compare it with its successor. At first glance, the main units of the vacuum cleaners are almost the same. A closer look reveals a small design difference between the battery and its mount.
The main bar also underwent a design change, which changed its color and surface finish. The extension for vacuuming narrow spaces was also extended, which at the same time received LED lighting at the very top and transparent material.
The display of the vacuum cleaner has undergone a major change, which shows the data differently. We have added one additional mode when using electric nozzles - medium. Dreame T20 also has 4 modes, but the middle mode is only available for passive extensions. It is with electric nozzles namiesto medium mode automatic. The Dreame T30 offers a medium mode for all attachments, including electric ones.
In addition, the display shows the level of contamination of the vacuuming area during the entire period of use, and the percentage balance of the battery capacity has replaced the remaining vacuuming time. This is an interesting change, but we would also welcome an indication of the percentage of remaining battery capacity.
We were also pleased with the additional joint, which is not included in the Dreame T20 package. As for the quality of the vacuum, the higher power is slightly felt, but it is not a very significant difference. We expected the manufacturer to solve the demanding vacuuming of carpets with long hair, but this did not happen. However, the noise level has been reduced, so the Dreame T30 is a bit better soundproofed.
Filters and their cleaning
In the middle of the dust container is a plastic element with 12 cyclones with a filter that captures 99.67% of particles. There is also a well-known HEPA filter and others that make sure that no dirt is returned to the air. There are a total of 5 layers of filtration.
The dust container is emptied simply by pressing one button on the container itself. However, if you do not empty it often, dirt will also start to accumulate around the cyclone element in the middle of the container, which slightly complicates easy emptying.
However, said cyclone unit is also removable, similar to the other filters. All these internal components are washable. Just let them dry thoroughly before using them again.
Battery, charging and endurance
The battery consists of eight cells that have 2900 mAh. The battery is replaceable and removable. It is easily removed by pressing the small button on the side of the battery.
The manufacturer states a duration of 90 minutes per charge in ECO mode, 35 minutes in standard mode and 7.5 minutes in turbo mode. Charging should take approximately 4 hours, which is quite a long time due to the endurance per charge. During the test, however, we verified the charging time, which was significantly shorter than specified by the manufacturer. The flashlight recharged from 17% to 100% in less than 2.5 hours.
Of course, we also tested the real endurance. During this endurance test, we only vacuumed with electric nozzles, as overall we used the vacuum cleaner primarily to vacuum the floor. We have reached the following values:
- eco mode: 45 minutes
- medium mode: 28 minutes
- turbo mode: 10 minutes
We did not measure time in the automatic mode, as this mode is very individual and the endurance depends on the surface of the vacuum space. However, the maximum endurance of 90 minutes, stated by the manufacturer, is far from being achieved with the use of a floor nozzle. On the other hand, in turbo mode, we achieved higher endurance than declared by the manufacturer.
The display shows the battery capacity as a percentage only during charging. When vacuuming, only the remaining vacuuming time is displayed and if the battery is low, the message Low battery is displayed. At this point, the remaining capacity is about 20%. The time displayed is not entirely accurate, but is sufficient for approximate orientation.
Dreame T30: Final evaluation
Dreame T30 is an excellent rod vacuum cleaner with high suction power. It offers an elegant design, a clear display, four performance modes and a number of accessories in the package. The automatic mode is excellent, where the vacuum cleaner adjusts the suction power itself according to the surface to be vacuumed.
Of interest is the report on pollution during vacuuming, but this information does not really bring any added value. We were pleased with the joint in the package, thanks to which we can get to less accessible places, such as under the sofa or bed.
On the other hand, we were not pleased with the brush jamming when vacuuming fine carpets with long hair and the absence of a percentage of the battery during vacuuming. If you own a Dreame T20, switching to a newer model doesn't bring enough improvements to make the purchase worthwhile.
But if we didn't own a Dreame T20 and wanted to buy a bar vacuum cleaner, the Dreame T30 would be one of the hot favorites.
Detailed review, only the brand is not Dream, but Dreame 😀 correct it.
