Precise packaging
Roborock S7 Max Ultra was delivered to us by DPD courier in a rather large box with dimensions of 51.5 x 51.5 x 44.5 cm and weighing 17.6 kg. As usual, Roborock packs its products very well. You don't have to worry about any damage.
In the upper part there is a brief and clear instruction for initial installation and use with illustrations, under which the vacuum cleaner itself is already stored. It, like all other components, is still wrapped in transparent silicone.
There is a large charging station under the vacuum cleaner, which we will talk about in detail later, as it is very interesting. There are three containers in it and they are also protected by foil.
There is a power cable, detailed instructions for use in English and we also find a small bonus in the form of one extra dirt bag.
Quality of workmanship and design of the vacuum cleaner
We have the Roborock S7 Max Ultra available in white, but it is also available in black. At first glance, the design does not deviate from the standard in any way, but we have several interesting elements here.
The LiDAR system and three buttons are located in the upper part. Specifically, these are the buttons for turning off / on, cleaning the current space and returning to the charging station. In addition to them, there is also an openable lid, under which a dust container with a capacity of 350 ml is hidden. It also contains a washable filter.
We can notice several interesting parts around the perimeter of the vacuum cleaner. There are a pair of connectors for charging, a 3D camera behind the black cover in the front and a water connection on the opposite side.
The red rubber rotating brush in the lower part takes care of dirt collection. It is stored in a plastic element which, together with the brush, can slightly adapt to the vacuumed surface. A side brush, anti-fall sensors, high-tread wheels and a mop are also included as a matter of course.
Advanced RockDock Ultra docking station
The RockDock Ultra charging station is extremely interesting. It has dimensions of up to 422 x 504 x 420 mm, so it is definitely not a compact charging station.
There are three containers in the upper part - the first one is for dirty water, the second one is for clean water, and the third one is a dust bag. The Roborock S7 Max Ultra is not only able to empty itself, but it also washes the mop in the docking station and even dries it.
As for the water, he also takes it from the docking station. We discuss this process in more detail in the chapter on mopping.
The underside contains one more interesting feature. There is an inconspicuous brush that cleans the mop, as the Roborock S7 Max Ultra does not have a classic mop. Most vacuum cleaners have a removable water container on which the mop cloth is attached. In that case, you add water to this container and clean the mop by hand.
Roborock S7 Max Ultra relieves you of these worries. It sucks up the water itself from the docking station and you don't have to take the mop out, as it cleans itself using the aforementioned brush. And will it stay wet? No, the docking station also has a mop drying system.
The Roborock brand takes convenience to a higher level, as you don't have to worry about emptying the dust container or cleaning and drying the mop cloth. All these activities can be handled automatically by the docking station together with the vacuum cleaner.
Application and cleaning options
The new Roborock S7 Max Ultra works with the Roborock or Xiaomi Home app. We chose the application with the same name as the vacuum cleaner. The pairing itself took place without any complications, simply and quickly.
After logging into the Roborock application, the smartphone automatically searched for a vacuum cleaner near the smartphone. The pairing process consists of connecting to the local WiFi network of the vacuum cleaner, which will connect to our home WiFi. The whole process took no more than a few minutes, and at the end of it, the application guided us through the basic settings.
Here we could choose whether to use the vacuum cleaner on several floors and whether we want to use some smart functions, which can also be found in the settings.
This was followed by the initial scanning of the rooms, when the vacuum cleaner only quickly went through our apartment to discover individual spaces. After that, a map divided into individual rooms was displayed in the application.
Levels of vacuuming and mopping
The settings for individual levels of vacuuming and mopping are available right from the start screen, where the map is also located. We can clean the entire apartment, selected rooms or a zone that we mark on the map. For rooms and zones, we also have the number of repetitions from 1 to 3 available.
As for the individual options, we have available vacuuming together with mopping, separate mopping, separate vacuuming or a custom mode. In the custom mode, the user chooses among the above-mentioned modes separately for each room.
In this way, the Roborock S7 Max Ultra can, for example, vacuum the living room, wash in the kitchen and vacuum with simultaneous mopping in the children's room.
Let's take a look at the individual levels of mopping and vacuuming in the mentioned modes. When vacuuming and mopping at the same time, we have a choice of 4 levels of vacuuming: quiet, balanced, turbo and max.
There are three levels of mopping: weak, medium and intense. They differ in the amount of water that the vacuum cleaner uses. At the same time, we can also find a pair of routes, fast and standard. With the fast route, the vacuum cleaner does not go around the perimeter of the rooms, so this mode is faster, but the vacuuming and mopping is of a lower quality.
In the mopping mode, we can choose from the three levels of mopping that we mentioned above, but we also have an extended choice of route: Fast, Standard, Deep and Deep+. With the Deep and Deep+ levels, the vacuum cleaner goes through each place twice. In Deep+ mode, it also slows down and mops more quietly.
In the stand-alone vacuuming mode, the MAX+ level is also available, which is the strongest.
Speed of vacuuming, mopping and endurance per charge
Since we have a fairly wide range of individual level settings to choose from, we have compared at least some of them so that you, our readers, have at least an approximate idea of the speed of mopping and vacuuming. At the same time, we also tested the endurance for one charge, which is taken care of by the 5200 mAh battery.
We vacuumed an apartment in which the free floor area is approximately 32 m2. In the mode of simultaneous vacuuming and mopping with the suction power at the Turbo level, mopping at the medium level with the standard route, it took the vacuum cleaner 34 minutes. 33% battery left.
With the same levels of mopping and vacuuming, but with the accelerated route, the total time was reduced to 21 minutes and the battery capacity dropped by only 14%.
Solo vacuuming at a balanced level took 32 minutes and consumed 16% of the battery. It was also 32 minutes at the highest MAX+ mode and the battery capacity dropped by 29%.
Classic mopping takes about the same time as vacuuming. In terms of battery consumption, at a medium level of mopping with a standard route, the battery was drained by 14% per mopping. In comparison, at the maximum level of mopping with the Deep+ route, it took up to 52 minutes and the battery capacity dropped by 26%.
When the battery capacity drops to 19%, the vacuum cleaner returns to the docking station. If it has not finished vacuuming or mopping, after recharging it continues its activity where it left off. Charging from 19% to 100% takes about 3 hours.
Vacuum quality
High suction power of up to 5500 Pa promises quality vacuuming. Of course, we verified this in our household while writing this review. We spilled oatmeal, cocoa, flour and red lentils on the kitchen floor and were wondering how the vacuum cleaner would handle them.
We chose the highest level of Max+ vacuuming with a standard route. In the photo below, you can see how the floor looked before vacuuming.
After the first vacuuming, only a few dirt remained on the floor. Mostly, these were those that the side broom had blasted to places that had already been vacuumed. After the second vacuuming, all the dirt has already disappeared.
Regarding the quality of vacuuming, we have to say that we do not see a significant difference between a vacuum cleaner that has a suction power of around 4000 Pa (e.g. Roborock Q7 Max +) and the latest Roborock with 5500 Pa.
Let's not forget to mention that after the vacuuming is finished, the vacuum cleaner returns to the docking station, which automatically vacuums the contents of the dust container in the vacuum cleaner into the pocket in the docking station.
Sophisticated mopping
Mopping is particularly interesting with this vacuum cleaner model. As we mentioned in the introduction, the docking station contains several elements that the vacuum cleaner uses during mopping. Specifically, it concerns containers for clean and dirty water, a mop cleaning and drying system.
After starting mopping, the vacuum cleaner leaves the docking station to turn around and reverse. It is on the opposite side that there is a water connection, with the help of which the docking station supplies it with clean water. At the same time, the vacuum cleaner also wets the mop cloth so that it leaves with a moistened cloth.
During mopping, it returns to the docking station several more times, where the mop is cleaned of dirt with the help of a brush on its bottom. You can set how often it should come back to clean the cloth in the settings between 10 and 50 minutes in 5-minute increments (10,15,20,...). The second option is to clean the mop according to the room in order to avoid transferring dirt between rooms.
To make matters worse, the mop vibrates up to 3000 movements per minute during its operation thanks to the VibraRise technology. Surprisingly, these vibrations can be heard quite clearly. After finishing mopping, the mop cloth is cleaned again. This cleaning is quite thorough as it takes about 3 minutes in total.
Finally, the docking station will start the drying process. A slight noise can be heard during drying, but it is nothing significant or disturbing. The drying time can be 2, 3 or 4 hours. After three hours, the mop was mostly completely dry.
The docking station also includes an inconspicuous filter in the lower part. It is located under the brush on the far right. It is recommended to clean it regularly under running water.
As for the volume of water that the vacuum cleaner consumes, the vacuum cleaner was able to use the entire container of water for 13 cleaning of the cloth within the seven mopping of our apartment. The capacity of the water container is approximately 3 L.
Moping quality
Since mopping is really sophisticated and fully automatic with this vacuum cleaner, we have high expectations. We spilled cocoa, green food coloring, and syrup on the kitchen floor and started a separate mop with the maximum Deep+ setting.
This is how it looked before mopping:
Usually, when testing robotic vacuum cleaners on this site, we attach photos after the first, second, or even third mopping. However, the Roborock S7 Max Ultra is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that was able to wash away all dried dirt in one go in our test! The mopping quality is so perfect.
A few small stains remained in the cracks between the tiles, but these stains are difficult to clean even by hand, let alone with any mop.
Map customization
As for the map, it is fully customizable, similar to other vacuum cleaners from the Roborock brand. We won't find any groundbreaking news here, so let's just briefly recall what options we have when editing the map.
We can turn the map in steps of 90° to both sides and change individual rooms. We can name them with our own name and diacritics or combine or divide them according to our preferences.
There are also so-called no-go zones that the vacuum cleaner should avoid, or virtual walls. We can also set the type and direction of the floor pattern so that the vacuum cleaner can vacuum in the direction in which the floor is laid.
There is also a 3D view of the map, where we can also add furniture. Other options include, for example, customization of the vacuuming order of individual rooms, where we also find the option of automatic order, when the vacuum cleaner determines the order of the rooms itself.
Additional settings
Using the settings, you can plan vacuuming or mopping in detail for a specified day and time with possible repetition. We can also enable or disable advanced obstacle avoidance, which works very well by the way. The vacuum cleaner bumps into obstacles only minimally.
The docking station also has a separate category in the settings, where we can find the previously mentioned setting of the cleaning frequency of the mop cloth or the level of this cleaning among three options: Light, Balanced and Deep. These levels are graded according to the cleaning intensity of the cloth and the duration of this process.
Similar levels can also be found with automatic emptying. Specifically, these are the Smart, Light, Balanced and Max levels. We can also set the language of voice notifications, but you would search for Slovak or Czech here in vain.
Charging during the night current, do not disturb mode, or a child lock are also available. There is also spot cleaning or remote control of movement.
Every vacuuming or mopping is saved in the history, which is also always available in the settings. At the same time, the status of individual components such as the filter, rotary brush, side whisk, sensors, mop, water filter, brush in the docking station and dust bag is displayed here. The capacity of the bag is 1.8 L and should last 1 to 2 months, but the state of its filling is not monitored.
Roborock S7 Max Ultra: Final review
Roborock S7 Max Ultra is a very interesting model with a multi-purpose RockDock Ultra docking station. It impresses at first glance with its size, but its most interesting features are hidden inside. It has containers for clean water, dirty water and a dust bag.
In addition to them, however, we can also find a sophisticated system for dispensing water to the vacuum cleaner, cleaning the mop cloth with a brush and drying the mop. The vacuum cleaner will take care of everything by itself, automatically, without your intervention.
The high suction power of 5500 Pa will also please us, but we were particularly impressed by its high-quality, vibrating mop. Thanks to it, it clearly ranks among the best robotic vacuum cleaners with a mop, as it can realistically wash even dried dirt in one go.
A minor negative is perhaps only the dimensions of the docking station and slightly increased noise during vibration mopping.
Roborock s8 pro ultra is already sold in SK, and it is not available anywhere on cn sites. Otherwise, it would also like a review about it and a comparison with the S7 max ultra.
