Lankeleisi is a brand that resonated quite often on our website in recent months. A young Chinese company wants to bring the old Chinese fatbikes in a new, never-before-seen style, and one of them is the Lankeleisi X3000 Max.
We looked at this high-end model of the brand to see if it is really worth the nearly two thousand. After all, it is a flagship with two powerful electric motors, high-quality hydraulic brakes and an unconventional high and massive front fork.
It can be purchased directly on the manufacturer's website
We started cooperation with the Lankeleisi brand, which resulted in testing this model. You can buy Lankeleisi X3000 Max directly on the manufacturer's website, which guarantees you a longer warranty than other Chinese stores and still fast delivery within 7 days. Unpacking can take time
The Lankeleisi X3000 Max comes in a huge box, which two of us tackled and we recommend unpacking this bike with the help of another person, as it is quite a piece of iron, or. aluminum. According to the manufacturer, the bike is 90% assembled and it was necessary, as is customary with such bikes, to tighten some screws, put on the front wheel, handlebars, seat, pedals, front light and other small things.
We are not sure if the bike was 90% assembled as it took us around 30-40 minutes to assemble even with a pair. An interesting feature is the front light, which is packed separately in a box, as it is an unusually massive light, the likes of which we have not seen on another Chinese bike.
We rate very positively the revised manual, which contains detailed pictures for the composition and also instructions for P display settings. The package also includes a pump, a lock and a set of keys necessary for assembly.
You will fall in love with him at first sight
After the complete composition of the dark-orange beast, you will definitely fall in love with it at first sight. In terms of design, Lankeleisi X3000 Max has really succeeded and the front dominant fork looks powerful together with the thick tires and will definitely have some people respect before they sit on it.
We arranged the bike in a black-orange version, and the seller still has it on the website in a completely black color. It also looks very interesting, but we personally like this version more.
Classic folding construction
It goes without saying that the folding feature comes with practically every electric fatbike from China. The Lankeleisi X3000 Max also uses an almost identical folding method, as for example Engwe. However, handling it can be difficult, as it weighs up to 37 kg.
There is a key on the lower frame that secures the battery, but it is only used for mechanical securing. The bike can also be turned on without it. The battery can be removed from the frame. The handlebars are fixed and cannot be folded in any way.
Complete suspension, adjustable fork
The big front fork with oil-spring double-crown lockable shock does a very good job together with the HLT rear shock, which should handle up to 200kg of frame load.
However, during testing, there were rattling sounds coming from the front fork and we were unable to eliminate them. We tightened all the screws we could, but apparently it comes from the design of the bike and cannot be eliminated. But it does not affect the ride in any way.
Thick branded tires with an unusual rim
The Chinese love fat tires. After all, when we look at the portfolio of electric bicycles of brands such as Engwe, Lankeleisi or DUOTTS, most have 4 inch tires fitted. They are not so popular in our market, but if we want a really powerful electric bike, it is necessary to accept it.
The Lankeleisi X3000 Max is equipped directly from the factory with branded CHAOYANG tires with dimensions of 20×4″. A very nice design element for us is the perforated rim, from which the orange inner shell can be seen. This is new for us for Chinese fatbikes.
For us, such electric bikes with thick tires are exclusively for experience riding for those who don't break up pedaling and are great for Slovakian trails, which, let's face it, are broken in most places. With such tires and suspension, it is possible to go over the curb without braking, and no pothole is a problem.
A decent performance that we are not used to
It is not common for electric bikes to have 1000W motors, let alone two! The Lankeleisi X3000 Max differs from the others especially with its massive performance hidden in the front and back. The run-up on this beast reminds us slightly of the run-up Kaabo Wolf King GT Pro, on pebbles, the front wheel has no problem shooting stones during acceleration.
With this power, the bike has no problem conquering the steepest hills, and the ability to switch the motors on/off as needed is always a pleasure. We managed to record the maximum speed on the level, but only 45 km/h (the test driver is 78 kg).
But in our opinion, it has more potential...
Personally, we expected slightly more from the maximum, as the common nominal power is up to 2000 W. Even so, this speed is respectable in the segment of electric fat bikes. The bicycle apparently has a built-in limiter in the controller, which limits it to a higher speed.
Driving feel - few gears
The feeling of riding and especially comfort while riding are key factors when choosing bicycles. Lots of Chinese have small builds and us Europeans are just hunched over on bikes. However, the Lankeleisi X3000 Max has a large enough construction and is suitable for taller figures.
The width of the handlebars is also ideal, so the riding comfort is as we would expect from a bike for its price. However, the fact that the bike has only 7 gears "eaten" us the most. This is pitifully low for a powerful bike that can comfortably reach 40 km/h. Already in the second, or in the third speed mode, after a few seconds, the pedal is basically empty in the highest gear. But this is the problem of all Chinese fatbikes.
Samsung branded battery
What we like to see with electric bikes, but also scooters, are branded battery cells. These guarantee that the battery will last a long time and significantly reduce the risk of failure, switching off the device at lower voltages (previous problem with Laotie) or rapid wear of cells. In the frame itself there is a 20 Ah Samsung cell with a voltage of 48 V.
The battery can be fixed mechanically with a key and removed without any problems.
A 3 A charger is included in the package, which will take about 6 hours to charge the bike. Of course, it depends on the state in which the bike is being charged, but we recommend charging at the limit of 20-30%. Only 1 connector is available, so dual charging is not possible.
Real range
Of course, we also tested the range on this truck. Manufacturers have traditionally provided often exaggerated data, which are measured with a light rider, a low speed of around 25 km/h and an ideal temperature. It is clear to us that few of our fans have such conditions and also no one will go only at a speed of 25 km/h on such a bike.
Therefore, we tested the range at the highest drive mode 5 without pedaling, with two motors and we gave the bike everything it needed, there were also hills and often maximum speed. With the help of a tachometer, we measured the distance with a rider weight of approximately 78 kg 39 km.
This is a fairly expected result for a 20 Ah battery, given that the bike has two motors. It would certainly be possible to reach the value of 70 kilometers without problems using one engine, a lower average speed and, of course, pedaling assistance.
Quality brakes, huge calipers
It takes a lot of power to brake a colossus like the Lankeleisi X3000 Max. Therefore, the manufacturer installed high-quality DYISLANDDe hydraulic disc brakes with really huge red calipers, which immediately caught our attention after taking the bike out of the box. They look beautiful.
Even a rider with a stated maximum load capacity of 180 kg should therefore have no problem with quick braking. To begin with, it is necessary to fine-tune these brakes, because pressing the levers was a little harder
Large LCD display, but lousy gas
Another thing we really like about this bike is the clear color LCD display, where you can see everything you need, such as battery status, mileage and current speed. It also offers rich options for settings that you can find in the manuals.
On the left side of the handlebars there is a controller for activating the battery power supply as well as controlling the lights, indicators and display.
But not to brag, we don't like the rotary gas on the handle and the material of the handles themselves. It should be imitation leather, but for us the material is quite hard and looks like it will wear out easily. On the other hand, we would expect a gentle response on the handles. When even a scooter under 900 can have perfect rubber handles € (Joyor S10-S), such a bike can definitely have them.
Excellent front and rear lighting
The Lankeleisi X3000 Max front light is so large that the manufacturer had to put it in a separate box. It is a massive lamp that perfectly illuminates the surroundings during darkness. No one will have to order external lights from AliExpress anymore, because these are really excellent.
The rear lighting also works as a brake indicator and gives the bike a really great look in the dark. Lankeleisi X3000 Max simply looks really good.
Final evaluation: Lankeleisi X3000 Max
As usual with our reviews, the product should be evaluated at the end. In some respects Lankeleisi X3000 Max exceeded our expectations, in others it failed to exceed them. A big positive is the massive power and acceleration, which is not at all common to see with electric bikes. For us, the plus is also very good gear shifting and driving comfort, high-quality brakes and overall the quality of the components used.
From a subjective point of view, the manufacturer also succeeded in the design of the bike, it looks more like a motorcycle and looks massive. More than one passerby is guaranteed to turn behind the bike.
Such types of electric bicycles are suitable for basically any terrain. Their thick 20×4 inch tires can easily overcome curbs without braking or large potholes, making it well usable in the city. On the other hand, it is also great for off-roading and is not afraid of hills or bumps.
The main negatives clearly include very few gears and pedaling on empty practically immediately after starting up. This problem would be partly solved by a torque sensor, which would be able to dose the engagement of the electric motor according to the revolutions of the pedals, but it is missing here. At the price level of almost 2000 € we would expect such equipment. We also miss a multi-speed converter here.
