Content and quality of packaging
The ANGWATT C1 electric scooter was delivered to us by the SPS courier in a box with dimensions of 131 x 26 x 50 cm and a weight of approximately 38 kg. At first glance, the box had already been additionally glued, probably by one of the shipping companies, and it was also damaged, even leaking.
However, the manufacturer protected the scooter with a lot of foam reinforcements and silos, so the scooter itself had no damage. At the same time, all accessories were attached to the frame of the scooter using silicone, so even a leaky box was no problem. Since the accessories didn't fly in the box, we don't miss anything.
As for the contents of the package, in addition to the scooter, we also find a pair of chargers, an instruction manual and a multi-function wrench for tightening screws and nuts.
The scooter was well protected in the box, but the box itself did not cope well with the transport. It is a pity that the manufacturer did not use additional protection of the box in the form of some kind of silo or a second box.
Simple and quick assembly
Like many other scooters, the ANGWATT C1 comes in the box folded up with the steering bar folded down. Assembly is also clearly described in the user manual, together with illustrations.
We started by removing the protective and packaging material and proceeded to pop out the main rod leading to the steering. The handlebars are attached to it with a pair of screws that just need to be tightened.
After that, all you have to do is fasten the front and rear indicators with nuts and tighten the individual elements on the handlebars, such as brake levers, display and others. They are only slightly tightened so that everyone can adjust them according to their own ideas.
Design and quality of workmanship
In appearance, the ANGWATT C1 scooter resembles well-known strong scooters, just in a smaller body than, for example Laotie ES18 Lite. The entire structure is metal and relatively massive, so it has a high-quality impression.
On the upper side of the foot platform we find a material similar to sandpaper, thanks to which our feet do not slip at all while driving. We appreciate that the manufacturer protected this surface in the box with a glossy paper cover, as such material is very susceptible to any scratches or dirt.
The design of the scooter mainly defines the so-called kangaroo suspension, which is also typical for many other Chinese scooters. The height-adjustable and wide handlebars or the fender with reinforcement, where we can grab the scooter while carrying it, are pleasing.
However, there are also shortcomings. Perhaps the biggest of them is the attachment of the front module, on which the lights, horn and turn signals are fixed. This whole structure is held on a single screw, which is a very unfortunate solution. There is too much for one screw on the mentioned module, so it does not hold its position firmly at all.
Handlebars and display
The handlebars of the ANGWATT C1 electric scooter are 64 cm wide and ergonomically bent, which suits us perfectly. You will also be pleased with the possibility of height adjustment, specifically in 3 positions that offer heights of 120 / 130 / 140 cm from the ground. The platform itself is at a height of 28 cm from the ground.
In the left part of the handlebars we can find the brake lever for the rear brake, the controller for the lights and indicators, the starter with the key together with the display that shows the current battery voltage. In the right part, there is the brake lever of the front brake, a display with a gas controller and buttons for switching between Eco / Turbo or Single / Dual. In this case, the handlebars are not foldable, which increases their strength.
The throttle control display is nothing new. The manufacturer used the well-known TF-100 system, which we also know from other scooters, for example from the recently tested DUOTTS D88. It displays the current speed, the battery status in graphic form and the distance traveled since the last power on.
We can switch this item by pressing the on/off button, when we switch between current distance, total distance, voltage, current, error messages and driving time.
The grips are rubber and ergonomically shaped. They are comfortable to hold, but unfortunately they turn quite easily on the handlebars.
Controls, performance and driving modes
ANGWATT C1 has a pair of motors, each of which has a power of 1200 W, so together the scooter offers us a power of 2400 W, which is not little at all. Although it is not among the strongest, it will still provide a good dose of adrenaline when driving fast.
The scooter has 3 main modes indicated by numbers, which differ in maximum speed. Specifically, 25 / 35 / 65 km/h. In addition, there are also choices between Eco mode (max. 25 km/h) and Turbo (max. 65 km/h) or drive by one engine (Single) or both (Dual). These modes have different acceleration and the differences between them are significant.
The maximum speed of 65 km/h is achievable on a fairly short route, and for us this performance is completely sufficient for normal use. Even with a 2400 W scooter, you will enjoy a fun ride, especially if you are used to weaker machines.
On a longer straight, the scooter's display even showed us a maximum speed of 73 km/h, but in reality it was around 67-68 km/h.
Tires and brakes
ANGWATT C1 has 10″ wheels with off-road tread, which are the only choice when buying. You can't buy a scooter with road tires. The size of the tires is 80/65-6 and each of them can handle a load of 85 kg at a pressure of 50 PSI. Personally, we could imagine larger wheels, at least 11″, on this scooter.
We strongly recommend checking the tire pressure after purchase, before the first ride. Our tires had very low pressure, only 16 and 20 PSI.
As for the brakes, they are, of course, hydraulic disc brakes. The discs have a diameter of 140 mm and the brakes are from the DYISLAND brand. Their efficiency is very good, which is important for a more powerful scooter. The brake levers are easy to press thanks to the mineral oil in the brake system and also have a screw for adjusting the pressure.
cushioning
Since the scooter is based on a well-known construction with the so-called kangaroo springing is nothing new. In this case, however, the suspension works surprisingly well and riding the scooter is very comfortable.
In addition, we can also slightly adjust the pressure of the spring on the shock absorber using the nut that is above the spring. However, its rotation is difficult, as it does not have a standard shape. With such a construction, we recommend adding a steering damper, thanks to which you can avoid the so-called wobble and driving will be much safer.
Relatively wide wheels also contribute to a comfortable ride, so we are very satisfied with the scooter in this regard.
Battery, range and charging
The new scooter from ANGWATT works on a 52 V system with a 28 Ah battery. It is already stored by default in the lower part under the platform on which we are standing.
The manufacturer indicates a range of 60-80 km per charge, depending on the mode. However, it does not indicate under what conditions we should achieve such a distance. Of course, we checked the range for one charge. We drove in the highest mode in Košice and the surrounding villages.
We enjoyed the ride, so we often went over 50 km/h. The editor weighs approximately 78 kg and was able to travel 45.37 km on one charge. We tracked the distance using the Runkeeper application.
A great bonus from the manufacturer is a pair of chargers in the package, together with the scooter. Thanks to them, we can charge the battery much faster. Specifically, in about 6-7 hours.
Lighting and turn signals
As we mentioned in the introduction, the ANGWATT C1 has the well-known round lights that at first glance resemble eyes. They are strong, they shine very far, but their dispersion is weak, so they are not the best.
But what is great are the turn signals. They are not only in the back, but also in the front. Unlike many other scooters, this one will also see drivers going in the opposite direction, not just those behind nami.
Folding the scooter
The scooter can be easily folded, which makes it take up less space when storing it. To fold it, it is enough to unlock a pair of fuses. The first is located on the side near the folding joint and the second above it.
As we already wrote, the handlebars are not foldable, so they can be pushed to the lowest position as much as possible so that they don't get in the way too much. The scooter is quite heavy, so handling it is not easy even when folded.
ANGWATT C1: Final evaluation
We really liked the ANGWATT C1 electric scooter during testing. It has a solid metal construction, a power of 2400 W and works on a 52 V system with a 28 Ah battery. With the scooter, according to its speedometer, we reached a maximum speed of up to 73 km/h, although in reality it was about 6-7 km/h less.
Adding to the excellent performance is the excellent suspension, which works extremely well. Riding this scooter is very comfortable. The range per charge, which in our case was 45 km, will also please you.
The biggest negative, from our point of view, is the senseless attachment of the front lights together with the horn and front indicators, since all these components are held by a metal structure attached to the scooter frame with one screw. It rattles and knocks while driving.
