Chinese company Anker has several of its own brands that produce quality headphones, power banks, chargers and even home appliances. Now this brave manufacturer is bringing its first through Kickstarter 3D printer. It looks really great and will be designed for less knowledgeable users. It is interesting, for example, by automatically adjusting the height of the pad with 49 points.
Anker 3D printer so far only on Kickstarter
The new 3D printer has a label AnkerMake M5, with her campaign currently running through the Kickstarter (crowdfunding campaign). The price within the campaign is $ 499 however, the manufacturer announces that the retail price will be many times higher, approximately at the level of $ 759. In addition to high speed, this 3D printer also offers other features, such as an integrated camera with which you can monitor your prints remotely.
The manufacturer claims that the flagship model of the 3D printer will print up to five times faster than the competition. However, it is not about some hidden configuration or "peak" performance. This is a full-fledged feature of the printer, whose factory default speed is up to 250 mm/s. This is actually five times faster than the competing Ender 3 Pro or Prusa MK3S+.
The start-up itself is also very simple, eight screws, two cables, a power adapter with a USB-C charger are enough, and you can start printing. And just the so-called "Hobby" printers for end customers require this simplicity. The maximum area for printing is 235 x 235 x 250 millimeters, and thanks to its speed, you can enjoy your prints in less than 60 minutes.
We do not yet know the details of such a surprising speed, however Anker claims to move the Y-axis build plate using an efficient dual-belt motor namieven one. Two guide screws are also provided namiabout one. There is also a removable and textured pad modeled after competing printers from Creality.
Aluminum construction, but also smart functions
Printer AnkerMake M5 offers a solid aluminum alloy in terms of basic construction, which ensures high stability during printing. In addition, the manufacturer will pack advanced algorithms that will match your design to the final result. We must not forget the function of automatic adjustment of the height of the pad with 49 points, which will be really very, very accurate.
"I think 3D printers are at the point where they could become, if not mainstream, then certainly more than just a marginal product." – says Eric Villines from the company Anker.
However, speed may not be the only problem with 3D printing. It is also necessary to think about the detection of a cracked fiber or automatic heating, which will help in the smooth replacement of the filament. The advantage is also low noise of only 50 dB, integrated direct extruder, support for Wi-Fi connection for sharing contributions, for example on social networks, but also support for intelligent assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
There is also a mobile application that, in addition to transmission from the integrated camera, also brings time-lapse video from the print, which can be stored in the printer's integrated internal storage in addition to the cloud. That's 8 GB.
Executive Dual XBurst processor
As part of the technical equipment, we can also find an integrated processor Dual XBurst (1,2 GHz) and XBurst 0 (2,4 GHz). The printing accuracy is +/- 0,1 mm, the maximum temperature of the nozzle is up to 260 °C and the maximum temperature of the pad is subsequently 100 °C. There are also necessary safety features against overheating and short circuits, and when it comes to filaments, supported materials include PLA, TPU, ABS and PETG materials.
Despite the surprising number of features, it should be emphasized that this is still a crowdfunding campaign project. The first pieces should be shipped in a few months (not earlier than in septembri 2022), mainly due to the preparation of hardware, but especially software functions, which are not yet finished and ready for production. The new printer will support the GCode format, just like regular printers, and the company itself intends to offer replacement parts for the product line in its portfolio. AnkerMake.
"I mean the hardware is currently 75% done and the software is 2% done," says Villines, who acknowledges that the company expects many of the company's customer service calls to move into a whole new category, such as 3D printing.
