On our portal China Planet, as the name suggests, we focus on technological innovations produced specifically for the Chinese market. China is currently one of the biggest technological giants and innovators, thanks to which people from all over the world follow the progress of this country.
The current communist system also makes extensive use of modern technological achievements to its advantage. It is no secret that the residents there are under the government's scrutiny, to which the manufacturers Realme, OnePlus, Oppo and Xiaomi also have their say.
A huge invasion of privacy
Just a recently published study from The University of Edinburgh and Trinity College Dublin has revealed very interesting information related to spying and sending sensitive data from Realme Q3 Pro, OnePlus 9R and Redmi Note 11 smartphones.
The study showed the fact that the aforementioned smartphones on which the research was conducted are sent without the user's consent location and social relationship information, saved contacts, SMS messages, IMEI and MAC identifiers, or data from various applications.
The key is the fact that users do not have the option to stop this distribution of personal data. The processes happen in the background and without the user's consent, which is without a doubt a massive invasion of privacy and digital freedom.
According to current data, it is up to 70% smartphones powered by the operating system Android, while devices intended for the Chinese market contain 3-4 times more bloatware compared to devices designed for the global market and up to 8-10 times more permits.
Only in China
But it is very important to add that these unethical spying tactics concern exclusively smartphones in the domestic Chinese market. Smartphones produced by Chinese giants with global distribution are not affected by this encroachment on freedom.
However, many people reach for the Chinese versions of some smartphones such as Vivo, iQOO or certain models from Xiaomi. Anyway, everyone should be careful.
We regularly monitor all other interesting news not only from the world of smartphones and then publish them on our technology portal China Planet. If you don't want to miss anything important, join our group on Facebook and sign up for notifications.
