Content and quality of packaging
The stick vacuum cleaner Roborock Dyad Pro was brought to us by DPD courier in a box with dimensions of 734 x 341 x 358 mm and weighing around 10 kg. In the upper part there is a practical handle for easier carrying.
As is usual with this brand, the product box is placed in yet another, classic cardboard box, which has the task of better protecting the package. Inside are the individual components of the vacuum cleaner. They are beautifully stored in two layers of cardboard reinforcement.
Specifically, here we can find the main unit of the vacuum cleaner, a handle, a stand, a spare filter, a brush, a power cable with an adapter and a user manual. We appreciate that the manufacturer included at least one extra filter.
Simple assembly
Assembling the stick vacuum cleaner from the Roborock brand is very simple. Basically, it is enough to connect the main unit with the handle, which, by the way, can be dismantled at any time. In this state, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use, but the docking station, which also serves as a stand for the vacuum cleaner, is an essential part of the package.
The docking station consists of two parts that just need to be connected. On the bottom side, we then find the power port, into which we connect the end of the power cable. The cable can be neatly hidden at the bottom, where we can wind it up and then lead it out through the prepared holes, either to one side or to the other, as needed.
On the docking side there is also a place for a brush, possibly a spare brush. That way you can have everything nicely organized and placed together with the vacuum cleaner.
Design and quality of workmanship
At first glance, the Roborock Dyad Pro is a relatively powerful and large machine. Its weight is approximately 4.8 kg, which is not that much. In our opinion, it's a very good design and brings several improvements over the standard Dyad version. The processing is at a very good level and all the parts fit together beautifully.
In the lower part there are three rotary brushes, one long and two shorter. Shorter brushes are stored next to each other, so at first glance they look the same as one longer one. There are also several rubberized wheels for smooth movement on the floor.
We highly appreciate the placement of a pair of brushes that actually extend from the very edge to the other edge, thus ensuring vacuuming even close to the wall or furniture. A novelty compared to the classic version of the Dyad vacuum cleaner is also a small container for detergent, which simply snaps into the lower unit of the vacuum cleaner.
Next, we have a pair of containers placed one above the other. The lower one looks bigger, but its maximum capacity is 770 ml, while the upper pure water container has a capacity of 900 ml, even though it is a smaller container.
In the one that captures dirt, there is also a filter in the form of a kind of grid. All dirt is sucked into this container, so it also needs free space. The maximum level of polluted water is marked on the container and does not even reach half of it.
Above the clean water container, there is a very easy to read, color LED display, which mainly shows the battery status in percentages and the current mode. In the upper part of the handle, we find a trio of control buttons, which we will discuss in more detail.
First turn on and pair with the application
After first turning it on using the button on the handle, our steps were directed towards pairing with the app. It is called Roborock and you can find it in the Google Play store. If you have not used this application before, you must register and then log in. We used our Xiaomi MIX 4 editorial smartphone.
In the application, we simply searched for devices around the smartphone and continued with adding the vacuum cleaner to the application. Here, however, we ran into a strange problem, when the application found the vacuum cleaner, but was unable to establish a connection with it via our home WiFi network. As with most such devices, Dyad Pro can only communicate in the 2.4 GHz band.
We use dual bands, 2.4 and 5 GHz, but with the same network name. So we turned off the 5 GHz network for a while, but that didn't solve our problem. So we reached for another smartphone, on which surprisingly everything worked, and we simply paired the vacuum cleaner with the application in a few steps.
At the beginning, we were greeted by an effective animation, at the end of which the vacuum cleaner is displayed together with basic information and settings.
Performance and modes
Roborock Dyad Pro has a 260 W brushless motor, with which it can achieve a maximum suction power of 17 Pa. The vacuum cleaner is suitable for dry or wet dirt, so it should be able to deal with various dirt without any problems, whether it is ordinary dust, hair or various liquids or sauces spilled on the floor.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on by gently tilting it from the idle position and using the button on the handle we can choose one of four modes: AUTO, ECO, MAX and floor drying. The automatic mode adjusts the suction power and the amount of water independently, according to the conditions that the vacuum cleaner detects itself.
The floor drying mode is used to extract a large amount of water from the floor, for example in the bathroom. It will automatically switch to automatic mode after one minute. In this mode, the front rubber bar, which is extended by a sliding button in the front part of the vacuum cleaner, also finds its use.
The application, in turn, offers a choice of suction power and amount of water separately. There are 3 levels to choose from for both options. In addition, we can also choose the rotation speed of the brushes from two levels.
Handling and cleaning quality
As we already mentioned in the introduction, the vacuum cleaner itself is quite massive, which can mean more difficult handling. We have to admit that we don't really feel its weight when vacuuming. The wheels work great and the vacuum moves smoothly across the floor. Nevertheless, we had to get used to handling it a bit, especially when it comes to turning sideways.
And what is the quality of vacuuming or mopping? The suction power is not very strong, so the vacuum cleaner collects dirt rather by rotating the brushes. It vacuums various impurities such as dust, hair or even spilled liquids very well, but sometimes it happened to us that hair and wet clumps of dust returned the brushes back to the floor, so it is necessary to go over the vacuumed areas several times.
It's a pity that all the modes work with water, and therefore at least slightly wet the floor. Dry vacuuming without any water is not possible. On the other hand, with the minimum water level, the floor is not significantly wet and we were able to walk carpets without any problems.
As for noise, we measured 68 dB when vacuuming in ECO mode, 71 dB in MAX mode. Looking at the floor, we didn't see too much of a difference in the amount of water left on the floor either.
Water containers and their cleaning
Roborock Dyad notifies you if clean water runs out or when the dirty water container is filled. It was really dirty in many cases and we were surprised how much dirt the vacuum cleaner was able to pick up.
After each vacuuming, it is recommended to empty the container with dirty water and rinse it. The attached brush is used for manual cleaning of rotary brushes. Such cleaning is really simple and fast.
Self-cleaning and drying
Self-cleaning is also a great feature. It is started using a dedicated button on the top of the handle. During self-cleaning, the vacuum cleaner must be in the docking station, where individual brushes are cleaned of dirt. The cleaning works really well and takes quite a long time too, 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
The drying function is a bonus, as the brushes remain wet after cleaning. In the application, we can set automatic self-cleaning after inserting into the docking station and the length of drying.
In our experience, after 2 hours of drying, the brushes were still slightly damp, so drying takes quite a long time, but there is also a quick drying option, which is more efficient but also noisier. It is otherwise an excellent function, since without active drying it would take a very long time for the brushes to dry in the vacuum cleaner.
We measured a noise level of 37 dB during silent drying, while it was 53 dB during fast drying.
Battery, endurance and charging
Roborock Dyad Pro has a 21.6 V battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh. According to the manufacturer, this capacity is sufficient to clean an area of approximately 300 m2 or 43 minutes of use, but doesn't say in which mode.
The vacuum cleaner is charged in the docking station for approximately 4 hours from full discharge. The capacity of the battery is completely sufficient for our requirements, since we tested it in an apartment with an area of 70 m2.
During our test, we mainly vacuumed laminate floors and tiles. In automatic mode, the battery capacity dropped by 15% in 40 minutes, and after 10 minutes of vacuuming in MAX mode, we lost 35% of the battery capacity.
Application options
In addition to the main menu of settings that we have already written about and related to vacuuming and washing modes, we also find other specific settings here. Here we can find, for example, automatic cleaning and drying after inserting into the docking station, automatic switching on after tilting the vacuum cleaner, duration of silent drying, scheduling of drying or do not disturb mode.
There is also a history of use, setting the volume or language of voice notifications, or displaying the status of individual filters, brushes and detergent containers. Overall, the app is clear and works well.
Roborock Dyad Pro: Final review
Roborock Dyad Pro is a very interesting stick vacuum cleaner that vacuums and mops at the same time. The power is provided by a 260 W motor, which provides a suction power of 17 Pa. The vacuum cleaner has two tanks, one of which takes care of the supply of clean water and the other is used for dirty water. You will also be pleased with the possibility of adding a cleaning agent to a separate tank.
There is no lack of application support, where we can find all the necessary settings and information about the current status or history. An interesting feature is the docking station, which also serves for self-cleaning brushes. It will even dry them for you.
The disadvantage is slightly worse handling, as the vacuum cleaner is relatively massive and cannot reach completely everywhere. The limited tilt of its construction, which can be restrictive, will not please you either. However, the quality of vacuuming and mopping is very good.
