The scooter has relatively wide handlebars, which makes driving on the Ninebot MAX G30 even more stable. Under the tread platform there is a quality stand that will allow you to build a scooter wherever it is needed.

Driving is fun

Enjoy lots of fun with the Ninebot MAX G30 electric scooter. The main reasons for its popularity are fully sufficient performance, long range and overall reliability of the device. In less than a month of testing, we enjoyed many lively trips with this scooter.

Performance is definitely not lacking

In the rear wheel is a second-generation engine with rated power 350 W and maximum load power up to 700 W. The scooter had no problem exporting a rider weighing 70 kilograms to steeper hills.

The manufacturer declares up to 20% inclines on its website, which we did not really test, but at 14% inclines the engine with 15 km / h still had a decent margin. On a challenging hill, however, you have to count on a lower speed.

The speed control with the throttle lever is pleasantly smooth and well tuned. While driving in the city, we had chosen the medium speed mode (maximum speed 25 km / h), on long-distance sections or on steeper hills, we switched to Sport mode (maximum speed 32 km / h).

The maximum speed that the manufacturer states on its website is 25 km/h. However, this speed is limited due to European Union standards, with the seller on the platform DHgate sells scooters with firmware designed for American users.

In practice, this means that the scooter can easily reach speeds of up to and without any firmware modification 32 km/h. There is also the possibility of uploading modified firmware, which can unlock even higher speeds, but we do not recommend this process due to potential damage to the scooter.

What is the real range?

The Ninebot MAX G30 electric scooter has a battery with a capacity of 15,3 Ah / 551 Wh. The manufacturer states a maximum range of 65 km, which, however, in the fastest "sport" (S) mode in real life is approx. 40-45 km.

The declared range can be reached in the slowest "eco" mode, which limits the speed to 15 km/h, but then the journey is much less lively. There is also a golden mean in the form of the "standard" (D) mode, which will limit the speed to 25 km/h. As a result, the total range depends on many factors, such as driving terrain, speed or weight of the rider.

But we were more than satisfied with such a single charge. 45 km is a really respectable range, thanks to which you can happily go on longer trips. Charging the battery from 0 to 100% takes approximately XNUMX minutes with a standard charger 6 hours.

An indisputable advantage of this scooter is its built-in transformer. This means that the charging "brick" itself can be found directly in the body of the scooter, so you only need a power cable for charging. The manufacturer also offers a faster alternativewhich shortens the charging time by more than half.

Comfort was not an issue

As you may have noticed, the MAX G30 electric scooter does not have any suspension. They therefore absorb all shocks 10" tubeless tires. A nice addition is self-healing gel inside the tires, which can seal the resulting hole to a depth of 6 mm in the event of a defect.

We also had no reservations about the comfort of riding a scooter. We mostly drove on urban and suburban asphalt roads, but even the more demanding terrain did not cause problems for the Ninebot MAX G30 electric scooter.

Someone may be bothered by the unpleasant shaking of the built-in bell on the handlebars, which emits a rather disturbing sound while riding on bumps. But we are used to this "knocking" and do not consider it a big problem. On the contrary, this built-in doorbell emits a pleasant and loud sound, which you will find useful in many cases.

In addition to the bell, the handlebars have a throttle lever, a brake lever, a clip to hold it during carrying and a high-quality display. The display shows the current speed mode, the current speed, the battery charge status (5 sticks in total), the headlight status (on / off) and the connection to the smartphone.

We must not forget to highlight the very solid brakes that the scooter has. On the front wheel you will find a classic drum brake, at the back of the engine there is a motor electric brake, which at the same time recharges the battery, i.e. it works as recuperation. Braking is pleasantly smooth and really reliable. Lever on the handlebars simyou control the front and rear brakes perfectly.

Scooter control and connection to the application

The display on the handlebars can be praised for its very good readability even during the strong afternoon sun. The scooter itself is controlled with a single button. Press once to turn on the scooter, double-click to switch between speed modes, press once again to turn on / off the headlight, and hold down longer to turn off the entire scooter.

The headlight offers a power of 2,5 W and will easily illuminate the road in front of you during the evening. The rear daylight does not excel in its performance, but it is also fully sufficient. A pleasant detail is the flashing of the light during braking for better visibility.

As mentioned above, the Ninebot MAX G30 scooter can be connected to the Segway-Ninebot application. After launching and logging in, an instructional video will pop up in the application, which is necessary for the initial launch of the scooter and will also acquaint you with its basic operation.

In addition, the Segway-Ninebot application has many useful settings. This app can record your routes, shows total mileage, current battery status and many other interesting statistics.

In the application you can also turn on cruise control, (Cruise Control), regulate the force of recuperation in three levels and also unlock a special "pedestrian" mode, in which the maximum speed of the scooter is limited to 5 km / h.

Cruise control is a feature that we really appreciated on longer trips. If you want to go say 22 km / h, just hold the throttle lever at the desired level for 5 seconds and the scooter will then alert you with a gentle beep to the activated cruise control. You can cancel cruise control by tapping the throttle lever or depressing the brake. It also works on Xiaomi scooters, as the Ninebot brand makes them for Xiaomi.

You can also use the application to update the scooter firmware. Updates that are available for download in the application will in many cases limit the maximum speed to 25 km / h and in some situations will remove the cruise control function.

We decided do not update our model, due to the number of dissatisfied responses to this update. Unless you want to lose a speed of more than 30 km / h and other interesting features, we recommend that you do not update the scooter. However, the final decision is still up to you.

If you decide to keep the scooter in front of the store, it may be useful to be able to lock the Ninebot MAX G30 scooter directly in the application. When you try to move, the scooter starts beeping, brakes with the engine brake and sends you a notification to your smartphone.

But nothing prevents the thief from grabbing the scooter and leaving it peacefully. We therefore recommend that you take the scooter with you everywhere, but if it really doesn't work, you can use the code lock that comes in the package with the scooter itself. We decided to raise the security level a bit by this loud alarm on the remote control.

Final evaluation: Excellent price-quality ratio

In the end, we have no choice but to praise and recommend this scooter to all ten. The elegant minimalist design, complemented by decent performance, respectable range and an attractive price, is a combination worth considering.

Solid tires with self-healing gel, water resistance IPX5 or long range are advantages that would probably be hard to find on other models. A great advantage of this scooter is that it is essentially maintenance-free.

A minor disadvantage for some may be the higher weight (19,1 kilograms) and dimensions. If you are looking for an easily portable scooter for shorter distances, we recommend that you look for more compact models from Xiaomi. In all other cases, you will definitely be extremely satisfied with the Ninebot MAX G30 electric scooter.

  • Since the scooter supports Bluetooth connection, it is also possible to upload modified firmware to it. On this page you can download the original "vanilla" firmware, but also create your own. You do this process at your own risk and responsibility.

In this case, the battery or the entire scooter could be damaged.
• How do I charge the scooter to save the battery as much as possible?
  • Before answering this question, it is good to realize that the scooter is a consumer product that gradually wears out with use. The scooter is here to make our daily lives easier and at the same time bring a lot of fun and joy, so we need to look at it as well. As far as charging is concerned, it is basically completely variable, but we recommend avoiding complete discharge. You can easily charge the scooter after each ride so that you always have enough juice. For long-term storage, we recommend charging the scooter to approximately 75%.
