Don't be put off by the lower compartment that hides the remote control (2 x AA batteries for the control are not part of the package), as well as the power supply cable with a local end to the mains (EU Plug, 220-240 V / 50-60 Hz).
Design and build quality: Matte finish and robust body
Ultimea is based on a robust construction made of high-quality plastic materials. However, the projector as well as the stand sometimes made a plastic sound when positioning. However, this does not affect the functionality of the projection and is an exception rather than a regular occurrence in everyday use.
The matte finish is resistant to fingerprints and grease, the lens on the front side is supplemented with a physical button on the top side, and connector equipment on the back side.
Despite the mentioned facts, we can evaluate the construction positively, we were not afraid of the projector even when carrying it or setting the correct projection position.

Ultimea C40 Nova is characterized by a high-quality LED light source that offers a maximum resolution of Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels). There is also support for 4K content decoding, which it can handle as well as the maximum image size in the range of 80” – 120”.
The display technology is LCD, and the life of the lamp is up to 10 years, according to the manufacturer. Its protection is ensured by a 4-fold surface coating (you won't even find a classic plastic cap in the package). Directly from production also supports 95% NTSC color gamut, which is definitely not a given.
The projector offers automatic 6D keystone correction, automatic image focus, as well as avoiding obstacles in the projection. All these functions are very fast and are activated immediately after the first power-on. Of course, you can also adjust the focus on the remote control or in the system settings.
You also have a choice of zoom 50% - 100%, yes contrast ratio 1000:1 and also the aspect ratio of 1,25:1 or the possibility of turning and flipping the image, according to your location. The maximum brightness of this projector stopped at 600 ANSI lumens. So the problem won't be in the interior either, and you won't even need to completely darken the room. It was enough for us to close the blinds.
Of course, in direct sunlight, the image loses its saturation, but it is very good with decreasing ambient light, and we were satisfied with the projector's colors.
Sound and connectivity: Stereo speakers and Bluetooth 5.3 support
An equally important element is the presence of stereo speakers. They offer a power of 2 x 5 W and are sufficient for basic listening to podcasts or online shows. However, for a high-quality movie experience, we would recommend connecting an external audio source via Bluetooth 5.3 wireless technology.
It can also handle accessories, for example in the form of a keyboard, which in practice has proven to be a very important choice, especially when frequently searching for content in individual services or applications.
The noise during use is also excellent. During our repeated measurement and monitoring in an empty room, on an online Wi-Fi connection, we did not even get above the value of 34 dB on average.
There is also a dual Wi-Fi connection (2,4 GHz / 5 GHz), which we had no problem with. However, if you prefer a wired connection, there is also a 3,5 mm audio jack, an HDMI 2.0 (ARC) jack, an AV port, a USB 2.0 port, and a power port.
Android TV 11.0 operating system, Chromecast and voice control
After setting up the projector for the first time, you will be greeted by the menu of the Android TV operating system in version 11.0. This system from Google already offers the latest features, including the division of multiple user accounts at the system level. Everyone in the family can use their applications or services.
In addition to the basic Android TV offer, you can also use the Play Store with hundreds of applications optimized for the TV (the Android TV system is primarily intended for televisions), but you will also find great games for the controller here.
The projector also offers its own menu, where you can find e.g. HDMI image source or advanced settings of the device as such (outside the operating system). Here you can choose the quality of the projected image or correct the automatic focus and alignment of the image.
A big advantage is 1 GB of RAM memory, thanks to which movement in the system or settings is very fast, we dare to say that it is at the level of projectors that are many times more expensive.
Power supply and remote control: European sockets and control without AA batteries
The projector offers a single form of power supply, using a direct cable power supply to the mains (1,5 A / EU Plug, 220-240 V / 50-60 Hz). The good news, however, is that the connector for the power source is standard, two-pin, and you can buy a replacement power cable at your local electronics store. You only need a cable that can handle 75 W consumption.
When connected to the power supply, the only physical button on the structure, the on and off button on the top, lights up red. After pressing it, the projector starts up and the backlight color of the button changes to green.
However, the actual control of the projector's menu is realized exclusively using the remote control. First of all, you need to buy two AA batteries, which are necessary for the controller. All initial settings, such as Wi-Fi connection, Google account, acceptance of Google's terms and conditions, are already implemented using the remote control, which also has an integrated microphone
It offers standard rubber buttons for on, off, volume, menu movement, as well as a "Mute" button for turning off the sound. However, there is also a set of dedicated buttons for popular streaming platforms, such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, but also YouTube, and it also has a button to activate Google Assistant and voice control, which worked well in English.
Final assessment: Ultimea C40 Nova projector
Many times more expensive models could be envious. In this way, we could briefly evaluate the technical specifications of the Ultimea C40 Nova projector, as well as its reactions to the operation of the operating system or the brightness of the indoor projection.
If we look at the price of around 300 euros, this projector stands out from the competition both in terms of construction and software functions. The only slight disadvantage is the need to purchase additional AA batteries for the remote control, since without it you will not even get through the first settings of the projector.
So we definitely recommend buying this model from Ultimea. Together with the software support from Google, you don't have to worry about the absence of the latest functions, and considering the selling price, it is more of an investment for several years ahead.
The projector is also suitable as a multimedia center for your living room, thanks to Google Assistant, but it can also be used in a cottage or tent, but with the presence of an electrical outlet nearby.
