Quality and contents of the package
The Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer electric bike was delivered to us by SPS courier in a large and heavy box, which is not surprising, since it is a 26-inch fat bike and not a small folding box.
Inside, the bicycle is partially dismantled and protected by a lot of foam reinforcements. They are securely fastened to the bicycle frame and individual components with the help of tightening straps. Nevertheless, we found a significant scratch on the rim of the wheel, which was probably caused by the pedal crank.
Although the manufacturer tried, and it looks like the bike is really well packed, it was not enough for it to arrive in perfect condition.
In addition to the bike itself, we also find a smaller box with accessories and a front fender in the box. In the aforementioned box, we will find a manual, a set of Allen keys, as well as small extra bonuses – a pump and a bicycle lock.
Assembly is not complicated
As usual with other bikes, the Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer has the front wheel, handlebars and this time only the front fender removed in the box. Both the rear mudguard and the saddle are in place. The assembly will thus be somewhat shorter than in most cases. It took us more time to remove and clean up all the protective foam reinforcements.
We started with the stem. We had to loosen it first with two screws on the sides, as it was turned inwards. We then attached the handlebars to it, turned them to the correct position and tightened the corresponding screws.
Then we rushed to assemble the front wheel and pedals. They are beautifully marked with a symbol that tells us in which direction we should tighten the pedals. At the front wheel, we noticed that the brake pads were rubbing slightly against the disc, but we quickly solved this by adjusting the brake caliper to the correct position.
For the end, we saved what we like the least - the front fender mounting with the light.
The whole assembly was really fast and relatively simple. We appreciate that the manufacturer includes high-quality and long Allen keys, which are very easy to work with. The wrench for tightening wheel nuts is of similar quality.
Attractive design and quality workmanship
The Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer is a full-suspension fatbike that definitely catches the eye at first glance with its stylish design. We had it available in yellow, but it is also available in blue. However, the front fork is yellow in both cases, and only the wheel rims change color. Personally, we like the yellow version better.
It is a bike that many passers-by will turn to, as it is difficult to miss. The frame is made of aluminum alloy marked 6061 and the total load capacity of the bicycle is 150 kg.
Wide 26-inch wheels, high front fork, wide handlebars and attractive frame geometry dominate. The overall quality of processing is at a very good level, so we rate both design and quality extremely positively.
Wide handlebars and color TFT display
We are always pleased if a mountain bike has wide and curved handlebars, as we ride best with those. Lankeleisi RV700 is no exception and pleases with 73 cm wide handlebars, which are approximately 115 cm from the ground.
The handlebars are dominated by a large and colorful TFT display in the middle. The display has rich colors and is easy to read. It displays several data such as battery capacity, current speed, driving mode or other driving information. Unfortunately, it only displays the battery status graphically in the form of a symbol with five parts. Too bad we don't have the current battery voltage here.
On the left side of the handlebars we find the brake lever of the front brake and the rubberized controller for on/off, switching between modes and controlling the lights.
On the opposite, right side, there is the brake lever of the rear brake, the Shimano shifter and the gas controller, which is installed from the factory. It is about the so-called half-twisted throttle. The manufacturer does not include a classic grip without a gas controller.
Power and maximum speed
The Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer was equipped with a 1000 W motor, which is located in the hub of the rear wheel. Its maximum torque is 90 Nm.
As we mentioned above, we have a gas controller on the handlebars from the factory, so we can ride the bike like a moped, that is, completely without twisting the pedals. There are 6 driving modes, marked 0 to 5. The zero stage is without electric drive, while the remaining stages are already with electric drive, graded according to the maximum speed. It represents 25 km/h.
Since 1000 W and 25 km/h do not go well together, there is an option to increase the speed in the hidden menu. We get to this menu by simultaneously holding down the + and - buttons. The specific setting of the maximum speed limit is hidden under option P6. Here we can set up to 100 km/h, but the bike can handle a maximum of approximately 48 km/h.
Acceleration is quite decent considering the weight and dimensions of the bike, but we needed a longer straight to achieve maximum speed. However, with this bike you can also cycle quite nicely, not just spin the pedals.
At the second or third level, we can also use the pedals without any problems. The bike does not needlessly start at a higher speed than necessary, and when we stop turning the pedals, it immediately shuts down the electric drive. The fourth gear is already on the edge with the unlocked speed, since above 35 km/h we have to turn the pedals very quickly to at least gently engage. In the fifth gear, we spin almost only at idle, since the bike lacks a heavier gear.
Since the weight of the bicycle exceeds 25 kg, do not forget the obligation to have the PZP closed, even if you ride with a speed limit of 25 km/h. You can find more information, for example, in our article.
Full suspension frame
The front of the bike is dominated by an extended fork, which, however, is not air, but a standard spring with oil. Its maximum stroke is 100 mm, but it perfectly completes the design of the bike. It has compression settings from full lock.
Its ride is not the best, but it dampens most common bumps well. However, a kind of knocking is often heard from the fork, but we could not identify its exact cause, so we could not eliminate these noises.
The bike is also complemented by a rear shock absorber, which bears the designation GSX-200 GO SUXE. It is relatively rigid, since it is probably only a kind of basic category model. Replacing it with a better one would definitely help the bike.
Overall, the suspension is not ideal, but in general the bike is quite comfortable to ride, which is clearly helped by the large and wide tires.
Quality ZOOM brakes
A heavy, big and fast bike inevitably includes high-quality brakes, but many manufacturers seem to forget this. However, Lankeleisi does not belong to this category, so we can enjoy the high-quality ZOOM H875 hydraulic brakes.
The levers are short, they are pleasant and easy to press, but above all their efficiency is very good. The disc is one of the larger ones, but it has a less standard diameter, 170 mm.
Battery and range
The battery in the Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer electric bike is 48 V / 16 Ah and is partially embedded in the frame. Personally, we quite like this way of holding the battery. The design fits nicely into the frame, even if it is not completely embedded in it.
The manufacturer indicates a range of 45-55 km per charge in pure electric mode, or 90-120 km in assisted mode. However, in none of the cases does it specify in detail at what speed or in which mode the range was measured.
Of course, we checked the range in our conditions with our driving style. We don't skimp on bicycles and scooters at all to show you the real range during a ride where you can enjoy the bike as much as possible. We could drive at a maximum speed of 25 km/h, or even in the lowest speed mode, to measure as many kilometers as possible, but this is not our style.
We set the maximum speed, selected the highest mode and at first we just drove comfortably in purely electric mode using the gas controller. We drove around Košice, so again we didn't miss the hills, which are many in this area. In this mode, we passed 32.4, which considering the higher weight and wide tires is not a little at all. The bicycle display showed only 0.5 km more compared to the Strava application on the smartphone.
Since we reached this distance in the highest mode without the help of the pedals, we can consider it as a kind of minimum range from which we can push further.
For the next ride, we chose the third speed mode, during which we also engaged the pedals and during the ride we sweated a lot, so it was not just driving on electric drive. We chose an off-road ride, with several climbs but also descents. Together we walked 50.8 km.
Here you can see how the maximum range depends on driving style and terrain. If we drove only on the straights and on the road, the range would certainly be significantly longer.
Lighting and shifting
The bicycle Lankeleisi RV700 has errors and the rear red light and the front one is relatively weak. Unfortunately, we don't even have reflectors in the spokes of the wheels, so the bike is rather poorly equipped in this respect. Even the horn is missing here.
Shifting from Shimano is solid and completely sufficient in this case. The Lankeleisi brand does not compete with the likes Engwe or DUOTTS, who in most cases choose only a very basic gearing model. Here we find Shimano Altus, which we would like to see on other bikes from China.
Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer: Final review
The Lankeleisi RV700 Explorer electric fatbike is an extremely interesting piece that attracts attention at first glance. However, it impresses not only with its design, but also with its high-quality construction, good frame geometry, 750W power and high-quality ZOOM brakes.
We really enjoyed testing this bike and could imagine it for long-term use as well. A minor drawback is the suspension, especially the rear one, which has a too stiff shock absorber, but that is a matter of improvement for a few tens of euros.
