About the BLUETTI brand
Startups BLUETS was founded in 2019 and focuses on the sustainable future segment. It offers affordable green energy storage solutions for indoor and outdoor use. In 2022, they filled a big hole in the market when they presented a sodium-ion solar generator, the first of its kind, at the Consumer Technology Association (CES) global conference in Las Vegas.
The brand has more than 30 global warehouses, operates in more than 110 countries around the world and holds more than 700 patents. He can also be proud of several awards.
You can find more information in our article, where we introduced you to our new collaboration with this brand.
Sample double pack
The BLUETTI charging station was delivered to us by the DPD courier in a box with dimensions of XXX cm and a total weight of up to 31 kg. It is not a light package, but thanks to the four straps, the box was easier to carry.
We appreciate that the manufacturer packs this product in two boxes for better protection. In addition, some edges of the box were additionally protected with a thick curved cardboard.
The packaging is also exemplary inside. No polystyrene, but foam reinforcement shaped exactly to the shape of the product. In the upper part, the cables are stored in a practical bag, and under the upper foam part there is already the charging station itself wrapped in another foil.
The manufacturer paid attention to the quality of the packaging, so the first impression is very good.
Design and quality of workmanship
BLUETTI AC200L has dimensions of 42 x 28 x 36.65 cm and weighs 28.3 kg. In the front part, we find the on and off button, sockets and output ports along with a clear display. We will talk about individual elements in more detail.
On the side, there are input ports that are used to charge the station itself. The two handles in the upper part are also pleasing, thanks to which the charging station is easier to carry.
In addition, all sockets, input and output ports are protected by rubber caps to prevent dirt from entering. Although they do not hold the best on 230V sockets, they will not fall out of the station itself, as they are firmly anchored in it. However, the charging station is not waterproof, so these caps are really more for protection against dust and similar dirt. It's a shame that the rubber caps themselves are a magnet for dirt.
Overall, we are satisfied with the quality of processing and design. The only drawback is perhaps only the high weight, which, however, is due to the high battery capacity.
Inputs and outputs
In terms of input and output ports, the BLUETTI AC200L charging station is very solidly equipped. As we have already mentioned, there are four classic 230V (10.5A) sockets on the front, but they do not have a grounding pin, as it is not standard in every country.
In addition to them, we also find other output ports such as 2 x 100W USB-C, 2 x 18W USB-A, a 48V / 8A socket and a 12V / 10A socket, the same as we find in cars.
If we look at the side of the charging station, here we find all the input ports, which are used for charging the station itself. The standard input for charging from the socket has a maximum power of 2400W, but we also have other options.
The BLUETTI AC200L charging station can also be charged from a car socket with 12 or 24V, in this case using solar panels with a maximum power of 1200W. Another option is a combination of an AC outlet and a solar panel.
Control and display
The charging station is simply turned on by pressing the metal backlit button, while its display immediately lights up. It shows the current capacity in percentage terms together with the input and output power, separately for direct current and alternating current.
Under the percentage status, we can also find information about the remaining time until discharge or charging according to the current load / charging. Along the edge of the display are several symbols that are displayed based on the use of specific functions, for example: AC / DC input or output, Bluetooth, low battery warning, low or too high temperature, ECO mode and the like.
If we want to charge, for example, a smartphone via the BLUETTI AC200L charging station, we simply connect the charger to one of the AC sockets and press the appropriate button, this time AC. Only after pressing this button will the smartphone start charging. Similarly, we have buttons for activating DC ports or USB.
Capacity and use of the charging station
The BLUETTI AC200L charging station has a capacity of 2048Wh (40Ah) thanks to its LiFePO4 article. The maximum nominal power of the station is 2400W, but in the short term it can also provide 3000W for two minutes, 3000-3600W for 5 seconds or even more than 3600W, but only for 0.5 seconds. Of course, these performances are only available for AC sockets.
We received a charging station with a capacity slightly above 60%. After the initial tests, we used it to charge, for example, the JIMMY PW11 Pro Max vacuum cleaner, which we started charging at 58% capacity and after charging it we still had 44% left. The vacuum cleaner has a 21.6V / 4600 mAh battery.
Next, we charged the Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro scooter, which we started charging at a charging station capacity of 42%. After recharging the scooter, we have only 9% left. This scooter from Xiaomi has a 36V / 12.8Ah battery.
In addition to charging various battery-powered appliances, smartphones or electric bicycles and scooters, you can also use the charging station for direct power supply. In this way, we tested an angle grinder, a leaf blower, a drill, a chain saw or even a vacuum cleaner, a television and a kettle. We especially appreciated it in a remote garden or on a construction site, that is, in places where we do not have electricity.
BLUETTI application
You can also add the BLUETTI AC200L to the BLUETTI application, which allows us to access some functions that we cannot otherwise activate. This includes, for example, fast charging of the station or changing the mode of the UPS (backup power supply). But mainly we get a clearer and simpler way of setting together with a lot of information about the use and status of the charging station.
The application enables connection to a WiFi network, which is only available after registration and login, or just a direct connection via Bluetooth without registration.
The home screen of the device basically shows the same information that we find on the display. Below them are switches for turning individual outputs on or off, information about the model or various graphs with statistics based on usage.
Perhaps the most interesting are the settings, where we can find individual functions and modes, which we will talk about during the review.
Multiple modes
BLUETTI AC200L offers ECO mode or Power Lifting mode. The ECO mode is preset from the factory and helps to save energy. If the output falls below the 10W limit and stays at this level for 4 hours, the charging station disconnects such a device.
This mode is therefore not suitable for devices with permanently low consumption. It is available for both AC and DC outputs. You can change the default settings in the application. You can choose from 10 to 40W and a time of 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours.
Another mode is Power Lifting Mode, which is used for devices with high demand such as heaters, hair dryers or kettles. In this mode, the charging station can offer up to 3600W, even if only for a short time, as we described above.
Charging BLUETTI AC200L
When charging the station itself, we have several ways to recharge it. Perhaps the most common way is to connect directly to a socket in the home. With this method, the battery was charged from 9% to 100% in about an hour and a half. It was charged with a power of 1200W and after an hour of charging we already had 66% available. This is the standard charging mode.
Turbo charging (2400W) is also available, where we reach 80% capacity in just 45 minutes. A silent charging mode with a power of 800W is also available up to the third. Other ways to recharge the charging station include connecting it to a solar panel, to a socket in the car, or we can also charge it via a generator or directly from the car battery, but for this we need optional accessories that are not included in the standard package.
You can easily charge the BLUETTI AC200L charging station at home or on a trip from the car.
UPS mode
Another function of the BLUETTI AC200L charging station is the so-called UPS mode. It can thus function as a backup source in the event of a power outage.
There are up to four UPS modes that can be found in the application. In the first mode, Standard, the charging station is continuously powered from the mains, so in the event of its failure, it has full capacity available to power devices.
The second mode is called Time Control UPS. This can be set so that the charging station charges during the night current, when the tariff is cheaper, and provides power for the connected devices during the daytime current.
The third mode is PV Priority UPS. It is intended for those who have a solar panel at their disposal, since in this mode the BLUETTI AC200L primarily uses solar energy for charging. The last mode is fully customizable in the app.
Accessories that you can purchase
As we have already mentioned several times, you can buy extras for the BLUETTI AC200L charging station solar panel for its charging with the help of solar energy. Solar panels are connected in series and must meet the following parameters: 12-145V, max 15A and max power 1200W.
If the capacity of the charging station is not enough for you, you can significantly expand it with other expansion batteries from the BLUETTI brand. We can connect to the BLUETTI AC200L station two B210 batteries, which will increase our capacity by another 4300Wh or two B300s (5529,6Wh), possibly one battery B230 (2048Wh).
BLUETTI AC200L: Final evaluation
The BLUETTI AC200L charging station will keep you going in times of power outages or will serve you well wherever you don't have electricity available. Whether it is a tent, a building or a garden, it can be used in many places.
You will be pleased with the high capacity of 2048Wh, nominal power of 2400W with short-term power of up to 3600W, the possibility of management via a smartphone application, UPS mode, a clear display and many input and output ports.
The disadvantage is perhaps only the high weight and larger dimensions, which is, however, adequate for the capacity it offers. For outdoor use, we would also be pleased with waterproofing, but it is missing here.
If we have convinced you to buy this high-quality charging station, you can do so through the official Bluetti store, which has an above-standard warranty and also the best price in Europe!
