As the title tells you, the BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 external drive has arrived to the editorial office. We were already surprised when we pulled it out of the box compact dimensions and its really minimal thickness. It was still in the package USB 3.1 cable with reduction to USB-C, which reaches a really great speed.
This means that this drive also has support for the USB 3.1 standard. Backward compatibility from USB 3.1 to USB 2.0 is also important, so you can use it with older devices without any worries.
You could easily carry it in the pocket of your pants and you would not feel that you have something there. Exact numbers then make values 100 x 29.5 x 9 mm and weight 30 g. This version is only available in one silver color.
At the top is located USB-C port and it is the one that provides the highest speeds. The capacity of the device is 256 GB, therefore, it is not the largest external drive, but it all compensates for its transfer rate.
Our measured speed values
Of course, we had to test this portable BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 SSD as well. During the measurements, we obtained the highest value of writing in the CrystalDiskMark software 412,1 MB / s and a read value up to 431,7 MB / s.
When actually copying files to BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 (ie writing), the speed was around 280 - 300 MB / s. These are very decent numbers, and if you often copy large volumes of files, such a peripheral device will definitely suit you at home. In the case of reading, we got much better numbers up to 473 MB / s.
During the measurement, we tried to use the included USB-C adapter with a USB-C port on the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro device, as well as a USB 3.0 interface. There was almost no significant difference and the speeds were mostly the same.
It also includes OTG compatibility
Of course, there is support for several operating systems such as Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 88.1 / 10, OS X 10.6 and Linux Kernel 2.6. So you will be able to use it really everywhere. It also supports the function OTG and thus also serves as storage for smartphones.
All you have to do is set up a USB-C adapter and connect the drive to your smartphone. Of course, in order to use OTG, it must be supported by your device. Our OnePlus 7T Pro detected a BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 immediately after connection and we could copy.
