Qualcomm recently introduced its revamped Snapdragon 888+ processor, which focused on AI improvements. We could see this processor in the newly introduced Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 smartphones. There is already talk of a possible successor called the SM8450.
Snapdragon 898 / 895
The new processor from Qualcomm's workshop is called SM8450. Its official name is still unknown, but we expect it to be called either Snapdragon 898 or 895. Production is expected later this year. We will definitely see him in most flagships next year.
As there are only a few months left until the performance, the first information is revealed. Digital Chat Station has announced on its Twitter profile that the new processor will be manufactured by Samsung's 4-nanometer manufacturing process and will increase performance by up to 20% over the current generation.
It will contain a super large Cortex-X2 based core, a large Cortex-A710 based core and a small Cortex-A510 based core. All of these new designs will be under the 64-bit ARM v9 Pure system. We will have to wait until series production for a real comparison of performance.
The processor is expected to be officially announced at the Qualcomm summit in December this year. Given the results so far, it is clear that Xiaomi will be the first company to launch a smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 processor. This could be the case with the Xiaomi Mi 12 smartphone.
Later, the Snapdragon 898+ processor will be available, which should be launched in the second half of 2022. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will be manufactured by Samsung, the Plus variant will be manufactured by TSMC.
