What are the disadvantages of buying the Chinese version of the OnePlus 13?
By purchasing the Chinese version of the OnePlus 13, you can save significantly compared to the prices of the official global version. However, the Chinese version carries disadvantages that may be crucial for some potential buyers. Therefore, in this article, we want to explain the negatives that we have found based on our own experience with using this phone.
- On the Chinese version (for now) automatic OTA updates of global OxyngeOS do not work system – or they work, but after the update the mobile network signal is lost, so we recommend not updating
- Updates can be installed without losing signal only from the XDA forum, where the developer always modifies the system and throws a fix at the signal
- For updates without deleting data, it is necessary to root the phone (it will not void the warranty and root can be uninstalled)
- NFC (Google Pay) payments may not work with root and unlocked bootloader - there are fixes for this, but we have no experience with it
- NFC payments work without problems if the phone has a locked bootloader
- Every time you unlock/lock the bootloader, the phone will be completely reset to factory settings.
- It also doesn't work on the Chinese version.SIM, Android Auto is fully functional
Since OnePlus has made it so difficult for us to use the Chinese version of the OnePlus 13, it may not be the ideal choice for less experienced users. The smartphone will arrive with the latest version of the global stable OxygenOS system from the retailer Gshopper, but the situation becomes more complicated with the new update.
We personally use the phone with a locked bootloader, which means that for us, when we update, we will have to unlock the bootloader, flash the new version and lock it again. Then we lose all our data. Fortunately, the phone has the option of a complete local data backup, which we plan to use. Before installing the update, we completely backup the phone, copy the backup to a PC, install the update and then restore the entire backup. We plan to undergo this process once every six months, or once a year.
We have already tested it and installed the global OxygenOS.
We have been testing the OnePlus 13 from our partner Gshopper for a long time now, and we have been waiting for the OxygenOS global ROM to be released so that we can start testing it in full. On the known the XDA Developers forum instructions were published on how to install this global system in the Chinese version of the OnePlus 13, and we immediately jumped on it.
After about half an hour our piece runs on the beautiful OxygenOS global system, but only in beta for now. Currently, the system can only be updated via OTA if the phone is rooted, In this video you will see how to do it.A detailed review of this amazing piece of technology from China is now available on our website.
The OnePlus 13 will definitely not disappoint. What does it bring?
The design of the novelty does not differ much compared to its predecessor. It is still a device that has several identifying elements of the company OnePlus. This time the edges of the phone are flat and the same goes for the display. It is made of metal and glass. The round camera module is again located in the upper left corner and hosts three camera lenses.
On the right side OnePlus 13 you will find control elements in the form of a power button and buttons for volume control. The left side boasts a traditional three-position slider for selecting sound modes. It is placed on top of the news infrared port. Of course, don't expect the presence of a 3,5 mm audio jack.
Welcome Snapdragon 8 Elite and a great display
OnePlus 13 will try to impress with the completely new chipset that it has "under the hood". It's about Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is available to him 12 GB, 16 GB or until 24 GB LPDDR5X operating memory. It is possible to choose from memory variants with 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB storage space type UFS 4.0.
He was deployed 6,82-inch AMOLED X2 display from the manufacturer BOE s Quad HD + resolution (1440 x 3168 pixels). Technology is also present LTPO, so the refresh rate can be dynamically scaled in the range from 1 to 120 Hz in order to make energy consumption more efficient.
The maximum point luminance of this panel is 4500 rivets and high frequency is available PWM dimming to prevent eye strain while using a smartphone with low brightness levels. A feature worth mentioning Rain Touch 2.0, thanks to which you can use your smartphone without problems even in the rain or with wet fingers. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is implemented under the screen, which replaces the slower optical one from the previous generation.
Huge 6000mAh Si/C battery with 100W charging
An interesting leading feature of the new OnePlus 13 she is progressive 6000 mAh battery with Si/C (Silicon NanoStack) technology, which allows for higher capacity while still maintaining compact dimensions. This is a significant improvement in gross capacity.
However, it is worth noting the fact that the predecessor itself, OnePlus 12, offered respectable endurance. It will probably be even better now. It is supported 100 W charging and if you prefer wireless power supply, you can look forward to support up to 50 W wireless charging.
Photographic equipment includes 50 MPx primary sensor Sony LYT-808, 50 MPx ultra-wide-angle camera with a 114-degree viewing angle and 50 MPx periscopic telephoto lens that is equipped 1/1,95-in by a sensor with enabling optics 3x zoom.
The latest operating system is pre-installed Android 15 completed with a superstructure OxygenOS 15. OnePlus 13 has dimensions 162,9 x 76,5 x 8,5 millimeters and weight 213 grams. It is sold in blue, white and black colors. The blue variant has a leather-like material on the back and is 3 grams lighter and 0,3 millimeters thicker than the other versions.
