The new flagship line of smartphones from the OnePlus brand already has serial number 11. Since we haven't tested this brand's smartphone in a while, we decided to try it out OnePlus 11 5G, which offers very interesting parameters for a relatively favorable price.
In the review, we will look together at the quality of processing, design, we will also test performance and cameras, where we will again find the Hasselblad brand logo.
Where to buy OnePlus 11 5G?
OnePlus 11 5G was included in the offer by our favorite Chinese retailer Trading Shenzen. Thanks to their Global Priority duty-free shipping, you won't pay any additional fees. You can expect the package at home in approximately 3-5 weeks. The smartphone is currently also available in the seller's European warehouse, which means express delivery within 7 days with free shipping.
OnePlus 11, global ROM
This is a global ROM version, which is basically a reinstalled Chinese version with functional Google services, payment via Google Pay, multiple languages (including SK and CZ) and support for all our telecommunication networks.
The seller finally confirmed that the "Region Lock" problem is fixed and the phone can be fully used. This problem caused the impossibility of calling outside China for the Chinese versions of the smartphone, but it is now resolved, so you can purchase the smartphone without any problems.

Content and quality of packaging
OnePlus 11 we ordered from our favorite partner, which is the international e-shop TradingShenzhen. As usual with this seller, the quality of the packaging is at a high level. The box of the smartphone was wrapped with several layers of bubble wrap, a silicone envelope and the whole thing was placed in a cardboard box.
The packaging of the smartphone itself is standard, and in addition to the smartphone, there is a charger, a typical red USB-C cable, OnePlus stickers, an opening needle SIM slot and silicone case.
Design and layout of control elements
The OnePlus 11 has dimensions of 163.1 x 74.1 x 8.53 mm and weighs just slightly more than 200 g. It has an aluminum frame and a back cover with a fine structure, thanks to which it does not slip in the hand. The back and front edges are rounded, so overall it is very comfortable to hold.
As for the layout of the individual control elements, OnePlus slightly deviates from today's standard here. The bottom edge contains the USB-C charging port, the speaker grille, the microphone and the slot for the pair SIM cards. The top edge is home to the second microphone and sensors.
The layout of the buttons on the sides is unusual, where we also find one extra button that smartphones don't normally have. This is located at the top of the right edge and is a small button that has three toggle positions and is used to choose between silent, vibrate and loud sounds. Below it is a button for turning the smartphone screen on and off.
In this case, the standard double button for volume control is located on the left side. The back is dominated by a large circular camera module, but honestly, we're not too fond of its design.
Beautiful AMOLED display
The new OnePlus 11 comes with a 6.7″ AMOLED display that uses Samsung's E4 panel. Its resolution is 1440 x 3216 px with a pixel density of 526 ppi. The display has an aspect ratio of 20.1 : 9 and a high refresh rate of 120 Hz is a matter of course. Thanks to the LTPO technology, it can adapt to current conditions in the range from 1 to 120 Hz.
You will also be pleased with the extremely high response to touch, which is up to a maximum of 1000 Hz. The display is gently rounded on both sides and of course also has a cut-out for the selfie camera. In this case, it is located in the upper left corner, which we personally like more than in the center.
Overall, the display is beautiful, it offers beautiful rich colors and a perfect response. If you want to use it to the full, we recommend going to the settings and changing the resolution to Quad HD+, as the default is only Full HD+.
The display also includes a fingerprint reader. This one is standard, not ultrasonic, so it works well, but not XNUMX%. The speed of the reader is excellent, but occasional hesitations in fingerprint recognition are common.
Uncompromising performance
The flagship model deserves a flagship processor, which is none other than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is an 8-core processor that was launched in November 2022 and is manufactured using 4-nanometer technology.
It consists of one super powerful Cortex-X3 core with a clock frequency of 3200 MHz, two Cortex-A715 cores with a frequency of 2800 MHz, two Cortex-A710 cores with a frequency of 2800 MHz and three Cortex-A510 cores with a frequency of 2000 MHz.
The performance is so high, as it is one of the most powerful processors on the market. To make matters worse, the OnePlus 11 also comes with the latest type of RAM, LPDDR5X with a capacity of 16 GB, and the currently fastest storage in the world, UFS 4.0. In our case, this has a capacity of 256 GB.
We can increase the RAM memory by up to another 12 GB using fast storage, which gives us a total of up to an incredible 28 GB of RAM.
Other memory versions are also available, namely 8 + 128 GB, 12 + 256 GB or even 16 + 512 GB for the Chinese version.
Even the latest games are no problem for this smartphone. And overheating? Almost none. Even after half an hour of playing, the smartphone was not significantly warm. Cooling the smartphone thus worked out very well for the manufacturer.
Battery and charging
Inside the novelty is a 5 mAh battery, which consists of two 000 mAh cells. You will also be pleased with the extremely fast 2500 W charging using the included charger, which uses their own SuperVOOC technology.
As was the case in the past, you won't be able to charge the OnePlus as quickly using another charger, as OnePlus uses its own charging standard. Unfortunately, we lack wireless or reverse charging here.
The charging process from 20% to 100% looks like this:
capacity | time |
---|---|
20 - 50% | 5 minutes and 36 seconds |
75% | 11 minutes and 38 seconds |
90% | 16 minutes and 16 seconds |
100% | 21 minutes |
And what is the endurance for one charge? Totally average. In most cases, if we charged the smartphone in the evening before going to bed, it lasted until the next evening without any problems, but it did not have much percentage left. The durability was usually just under 24 hoursnami with the so-called screen on time at the level of up to 7 hours.
Cameras and cooperation with Hasselblad
Even in the case of model number 11, OnePlus continues its cooperation with the Swedish camera brand Hasselblad. The cooperation should be reflected especially in the colors of the photos, which we will talk about later. First, let's look at the specific specifications of each camera:
Camera | specifications |
---|---|
The main | 50 Mpx |
Sony IMX890 sensor | |
sensor size 1/1.56" | |
FOV 84 ° | |
equivalent to a 24mm lens | |
aperture f / 1.8 | |
OIS | |
Ultra-wide | 48 Mpx |
Sony IMX581 sensor | |
sensor size 1/2" | |
FOV 115 ° | |
aperture f / 2.2 | |
Portrait/telephoto lens | 32 Mpx |
Sony IMX709 sensor | |
sensor size 1/2.74" | |
optical zoom 2x | |
aperture f / 2.0 | |
FOV 49 ° |
And what is the output quality of these cameras? Let's start with the main camera. He is definitely the best among the three mentioned. It offers a very pleasant color presentation, also thanks to a separate sensor for capturing light colors in the rear camera module.
Thus, OnePlus does not go in the direction of oversaturated and artificially attractive colors, but its goal is to offer vivid, yet natural colors. And he does it very well.
At the same time, the main camera has a very good qualitynamirange, thereby eliminating unnecessarily overexposed or underexposed areas. The photos have a resolution of 4096 x 3072 px, have excellent sharpness and a very pleasant and authentic presentation of skin color.
Sometimes it can make a different photo from the majority, which is slightly overexposed with a higher contrast, but in most cases we were very satisfied with the output.
It also copes very well with interiors or weaker light, for example in a dark underpass, which you can see in the photo below, or even in a church.
Ultra-wide camera, tele and macro
The ultra-wide camera offers almost the same resolution, but it's smaller and also has a worse aperture, which means that not as much light reaches the sensor as with the main camera. At first glance, the photos taken with this lens are different in color. They are a bit darker and cooler.
Low light is a tough nut to crack for this camera, which is why, for example, photos from an artificially lit underground parking lot are less sharp and overall weaker compared to the main camera.
The telescopic lens offers a maximum of 2x optical zoom, but its quality is very good. It is more similar in color to the main camera and also has a very good colornamirange.
This lens can also be used for macro photography. The macro mode is activated automatically and the output is usually not the best, but you can take very nice macro pictures with it.
Night mode
In this case, the night mode is not activated automatically, as we are used to with some other brands, but even in the standard mode, the cameras cope well with taking photos in the dark. At first glance, photos taken without night mode are almost no different from those taken using the separate "Night" mode.
Of course, the sharpness is a little weaker than during the day and you can see noise in the photos, but the overall impression is very good. That is, especially from the main and telescopic lens. The ultra-wide sometimes falters and gives somehow too orange colors, so the photo from the ultra-wide camera sometimes looks very different from other cameras.
Video and selfie quality
The OnePlus 11 5G can shoot video up to 8K resolution (24 fps), but like other smartphones, without stabilization. Other available resolutions are 4K (30 / 60 fps), 1080p (30 / 60 fps) or 720p (30 / 60 fps).
Ultra Steady Pro's best stabilization is only available in 1080p resolution, but even at 60 fps, which isn't bad at all. However, you will also be pleased with the standard stabilization, which works quite well at 4K resolution. But we don't like the color rendering of the video too much, which in many cases is too saturated.
The selfie camera is 16 Mpx and is standard. It doesn't impress, but it doesn't disappoint either. It supports video recording only at a maximum resolution of 1080p, which is no glory.
Android with OxygenOS superstructure
The OnePlus 11 Pro has the latest Android operating system in version 13 and the OxygenOS graphics superstructure in the same version, 13. The design of the environment is already clean, simple and modern at first glance. In this case, it is a Chinese OnePlus 11 with a global ROM version installed, so the Slovak language and support for our networks are also available.
The preset mode of the home screen is called "Drawer mode" and it is a list of all applications, sorted alphabetically, similar to what we know from smartphones from the POCO brand, where this mode is also preset. However, at any time we can switch it to standard mode, where the applications are simply on the next screen, which can be accessed by swiping to the right.
The system is perfectly smooth, without any hesitation. The only problems we had were the fingerprint reader, which sometimes did not appear on the lock screen, and then we could not use it to unlock the smartphone. It happened randomly and only a few times, but we couldn't find the cause.
OxygenOS offers many options to customize the design of the environment. Whether it is the style of the always-on display, the shape of the icons, their layout, the unlocking animation when you touch your finger, or the choice of wallpaper or font. There are really many settings, so you can play around with customizing the environment.
We also find special functions such as side panel, split screen, flexible (floating) windows or quick return. Each feature has a description and usage, but for example, for the quick return feature, which is supposed to create a tile on the home screen, we didn't have any app that supported it.
We also appreciate the reliability of displaying notifications from individual applications. They always went correctly and on time, without any delays. They are also displayed on the always-on display, which is not common for all brands.
Connectivity, speakers and call issues
As for connectivity, especially the wireless one, the support for the latest WiFi 7 wireless network standard, which bears the designation 802.11 be, is interesting here.
There is also support for 5G networks, NFC and Bluetooth in version 5.3. The global version of the smartphone should also support eSIM, but since we have a Chinese version with a global ROM, nothing oeSIM we did not find here.
However, one problem can be found here, even if it did not specifically affect us. During testing, the TradingShenzhen seller informed us that due to some Chinese regulations, there is a problem with calls that manifests itself after ten reboots of the smartphone. So he asked us to try restarting the smartphone 10 times and making a call.
If a problem is proven, we could send the smartphone back at the seller's expense. We tried doing more than 10 restarts just to be sure, but the calls still work for us.
Last but not least, let's mention the stereo speakers. The lower one is in the classic place next to the USB-C port for charging and the other is common for calls, so it is integrated above the display, where we can notice a small grid. The quality of the speakers is very good, the sound is clear and does not lack even a slight bass.
OnePlus 11 5G: Final evaluation
The OnePlus 11 5G caught our attention right from the first switch on. It offers a very neat and modern OxygenOS environment in version 13 with the latest Android 13 and excellent hardware equipment. This includes a top 6.7″ AMOLED display with LTPO technology support, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or fast LPDDR5X RAM memory and UFS 4.0 storage.
Decent cameras, in which the Swedish brand Hasselblad participated, and specifically the main camera, which offers a very goodnamiwide range and excellent color rendering.
The only negatives are the lack of wireless charging and the somewhat bland design of the back of the smartphone, but this is just our subjective opinion. For a price of around 750 euros, you get a great smartphone in every way.
