NFC payments with smartwatches are extremely popular today. There's nothing easier than placing your hand with your watch on the terminal. You don't need to take out your wallet and your credit card, you can practically leave it all at home. For this reason, customers consider this functionality to be one of the most important in a smartwatch.
And of course, manufacturers are aware of this. It is easiest for those who use Google's Wear OS operating system on their watches, because they can pay through the service. Google PayIt's simple, fast and efficient. Apple Watch owners who pay via Apple Pay.
However, if you own a watch that doesn't run one of these operating systems, the situation is a bit more complicated. Manufacturers offer their own solutions, but these must also be accepted by specific banks. For example, Garmin Pay still doesn't work at Tatra banka and the like.
Huawei watches now offer NFC payments
Payments have been talked about for several years in connection with the Huawei watch, but only now, in 2025 it was finally done. Chinese society finally brought NFC payments with watches to SlovakiaWe can thank this primarily because we pay in euros here. For example, in the neighboring Czech Republic, payments still do not work.
We therefore did not hesitate and tested Huawei's watch payment in detail. Let's first talk about some basic information. Huawei on this solution cooperated with a Polish company Quick, which has all the legal requirements and certifications in the European Union to provide services of this type. This means that the entire system is maximally secure and certified.
Huawei for a long time cooperates with Curve for smartphone payments and we expected that this service would also launch watch payments. Well, that didn't happen. However, the Chinese company claims that this is not yet a definitive solution and that better and more convenient ones will come in the future.
Which models are supported?
It's no surprise that Huawei starts with the latest models, which are also hot new releases. The absolute first is therefore popular and affordable Watch Fit 4 seriesThis means that payments can be made on both the basic and Pro models. At the same time, on July 1, 2025, payments were also launched on the series. Huawei Watch 5This is the most equipped (but not the most expensive) watch from Huawei, which has an open operating system with the ability to install applications, eSIM or Wi-Fi.

That's all for now, but by the end of this year, the plan is to launch the functionality for other or older modelsSpecifically, it will be a series Watch D2, Watch Fit 3, Watch GT 5 / GT5 Pro, Watch GT 4 and Watch Ultimate.
How to install the application on your phone?
We installed the application very conveniently. On a Huawei phone, you can go to AppGallery, search for Quicko Wallet and install it. You can do the same on any other Android phone in the Google Play store. And Quicko Wallet, as well as paying with Huawei phones also works on iPhones, you can download the application directly from the App Store.
How to install the app on the watch?
Watch Fit 4, Watch Fit 4 Pro
If you are using a Huawei/Android phone:
- Log in to the Huawei Health app on your phone.
- Click on the devices section and select your watch.
- Enter AppGallery
- Search for Quicko Wallet and install it
If your watch is connected to your iPhone, make sure it has the latest software. If so, the Quicko Wallet app is pre-installed on it.
The instructions here are identical regardless of whether you have Huawei, Android, or iPhone. You install the application directly from your watch. This means that you go to AppGallery on your watch, search for Quicko Wallet and install it. Done.
Application settings
After installing the application on your phone and watch, you need to set up your account. This takes place in several steps. You must register first. and since it is a “banking” application, you will also need your ID cardYou fill in all the required information and then wait for your account to be approved. It should take place within 24 hours, in our case it took about an hour.
Now you can fully use your account. The basis is virtual Mastercard payment card, from which all payments are made with the watch. You can add any payment card of any bank to the application, but for payment you must have money on the virtual cardThis means that you can either transfer them there directly in the Quicko Wallet application from your saved card (this is for a fee of approximately 0,7% of the transaction amount), or you can send the money to your account (free of charge, your virtual card also has an IBAN account number).
So we have sent the money to our account, now it is time to activate the payments. This works very simply. Among the information about the virtual card is automatically displays the option to add a Huawei watch. After clicking on it, the application will also launch on the watch and in a few seconds the payment card is in it. This whole setup process may sound a bit lengthy and certainly not as convenient as in the case of Google Pay or Apple Pay, but it's not that terrible. Plus, you only have to do it once, then everything works.
How to pay with Huawei watch
We're getting to the last part. First of all, you'll need set PIN code, since payments need to be secured somehow. To do this, just go into the watch settings, enable PIN and set it up. You will need it either once every 48 hours or after each time you take the watch off your wrist.Competing solutions also work in the same style. This ensures that a thief cannot pay with the watch, for example.
For more convenient payment, we recommend setting up paying by double pressing the bottom button. This setting is located directly on the watch.
Once we have everything, it's very easy. The payment process can be handled by anyone, simply by pressing the bottom button twice and holding the watch to the terminal. Done. We in the editorial office have already handled dozens of payments this way and had no problems. Everything works as it should.
We do have some minor complaints about the speed, however. The app takes about two seconds to launch, and you also need to hold your watch near the terminal for a longer time. So if you own a Huawei watch and are having trouble getting your payment to go through, just hold it near the terminal a little longer.

The setup is quite complicated and the payments don't work very well either. It can't be compared to Google Pay.
These indirect NFC payments via Quicko are just a prelude, personally I don't even consider it as NFC payment, we need to wait for the official Huawei Pay when they will introduce it here, it should only be a matter of time (supposedly it will be done via Curve card, similar to how they have Xiaomi Pay, for example)
