In early May, a Chinese manufacturer filed an application for the Mate Watch trademark. Until then, with the available information, we only knew about the preparations for unspecified Huawei watches.
If Huawei's schedule has kept up then the Mate Watch is the first HongMengOS powered smartwatch, it will be released with the Mate 40 series.

According to new information from the social network Twitter (@ RODENT950), the so-called The Huawei Mate Watch could also include the HarmonyOS operating system and could be introduced along with the new Mate 40 smartphone series.
With the new HarmonyOS operating system
The HarmonyOS operating system was unveiled last year. It is a proprietary operating system developed by this Chinese manufacturer and is based on the Linux kernel architecture.
According to the plans shared at the conference HDC 2019 (Huawei Developer Conference) HarmonyOS 2.0 will be released later this year with support for computers, cars and smart accessories.
It is therefore possible that the novelty called Huawei Mate Watch will get just now HarmonyOS 2.0 and not the Huawei Lite OS, which is found in current smart watch models, including the aforementioned Watch GT2.
Do we know the date of the performance?
In addition to the new software, current leaks also tell about the launch of sales of upcoming watches. This could take place alongside the Huawei Mate 40 series during China National Day, which will be celebrated on October 1.
This is in line with a previous leak that spoke of launching the series Huawei Mate 40 during October 2020, despite tensions and restrictions from the US government, which continue to underline the US-China trade war.
We don't know much about the other equipment of the watch yet, but the system HarmonyOS 2.0 will also be available on Huawei computers powered by Kunpeng processors.
