Want to pay with a watch, but don't have an Apple Watch? In that case, we have good news for you. Company Google brings an update that will make it possible to pay with a watch with the system Wear OS also in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Payments via Google Pay also on watches with Wear OS
Google is now expanding its support for Google Pay to 16 new countries, including Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates, with other countries.
This update now brings payments through Google on a Wear OS watch with us as well. It is also important to mention that the new mobile payment option does not only apply to the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, which was also introduced in Slovakia this week.
Payments will support all existing smart watches with the platform Wear OS 2 (and later), which are equipped with an NFC chip. So if you use a newer smart watch with the Wear OS system, you can probably already pay or you will receive a key update in the coming days of august.
Update for News and other news
At the same time, Google offered payments via Google Pay in Slovakia and also in the Czech Republic, but only via smartphones. Watch payments were blocked. Although this limitation could be circumvented manually, it was difficult and at least inconvenient.
The company also states in its report that smart watches with the Wear OS 2 platform will receive an update to the News application, as well as new widgets and applications via the Google Play store.
To sum it up, the mentioned updates and new applications should appear in Slovakia and the Czech Republic in the coming weeks. However, payments by watch via Google Pay should work today or. in a few days.
