We have already tested several stick vacuum cleaners from Dreame and JIMMY, but this time we don't have a classic stick vacuum cleaner. JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro is designed for dry, but above all, wet vacuuming.
Such vacuuming has several advantages, which we will talk about later. We will test how classic vacuuming and wet vacuuming can handle, and we will also look at endurance on a single charge.
Where to buy JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro?
Wireless stick vacuum cleaner JIMMY We purchased PowerWash HW8 Pro for testing from our international partner Geekbuying. It was available in a European warehouse, which made delivery extremely fast. The SPS courier brought us the package.
Contents of the package
The rod vacuum cleaner arrived in a classic product box with a picture of the vacuum cleaner and some basic information. Unfortunately, the box was not in perfect condition, there were visible depressions and minor damage. We had some concerns about the product in the box, but in the end nothing was damaged inside.
The vacuum cleaner consists of only two parts - the main body and the handle, which are stored in two polystyrenes, which sufficiently protect them from damage. Installation is extremely simple, just insert the handle into the body of the vacuum cleaner. All other elements except the battery are part of the vacuum cleaner and you don't have to assemble anything.
In polystyrenes we also find a battery of compact dimensions, a charging adapter with a cable, instructions for use, a stand, a small brush for cleaning and also a small holder for accessories. A spare rotating brush, which resembles a paint roller and a liquid floor cleaner, will also please you.
Design, quality of workmanship and layout of elements
From the design point of view JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro sets itself apart from most stick vacuum cleaners we've tested so far. On the contrary, it resembles most stick vacuum cleaners sold in Slovakia from well-known electrical appliance brands such as Electrolux, ETA or Rowenta.
The biggest difference lies in its construction and the location of the container for dirt and, in this case, also for water. JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro has the main part located in the lower half of the body of the vacuum cleaner itself.
In the back there is a faucet hidden under a plastic cover and a tank for clean water or water with detergent. The front part contains a large and clear LED display, under which a tank for polluted water and dust is located.
The vacuum cleaner is only equipped with a floor nozzle, as it is primarily intended for wet vacuuming. In the nozzle we find a white rotating brush, which is covered with a fine cloth over the entire surface. A water sprayer is also located in the front part of the floor nozzle.
On the handle, we find buttons for on/off, switching between individual modes and also a button for spraying the floor. As for the design, it is carried in the typical colors of the brand JIMMY and is a matter of taste. We quite like it, but the manufacturer could have forgiven the dog sticker on the front.
The whole vacuum cleaner is plastic, except for the rod that leads to the handle, which is metal. The overall quality is good, but the vacuum cleaner has a slightly cheaper impression.
Controls, LED display and modes
The bar vacuum cleaner is switched on with a button on the handle, which contains a typical on / off symbol. Before switching on, we filled the rear container with clean water so that we could also try spraying the floor. We also put the battery in its place, but it was relatively flat. It had a capacity of only about 33%.
Immediately after switching on, the display shows the percentage of the battery, which is the dominant element on the display. In addition, we will also find information about the current mode here.
There are only two - weaker and stronger. They switch to the on or off button next to it. With a stronger one, the display shows a half arc above the battery level, and with a stronger one, this arc is complete. The display is large enough, clear and easy to read.
JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro hides a carbonless motor with a power of 300 W. Its suction power is 15 Pa. For comparison, the flagship models of stick vacuum cleaners have a suction power of 000 Pa.
Dry and wet vacuuming
As we already mentioned in the introduction, JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro is mainly intended for wet vacuuming and floor washing. It is suitable for all types of floor coverings such as laminate, vinyl, wood or tiles.
If you have small children in the household who often spill something or keep a dog, cat or other pets that bring home mud during rainy days, you will definitely appreciate this vacuum cleaner.
During the first vacuuming, we spilled milk on the floor, which he immediately vacuumed without any problems for the first time. The milk has moved to the front dirt container, which is transparent, so you can see all the dirt it sucks. The clean water tank has a capacity of 0.45 L and the dirt tank has a capacity of 0.35 L.
When the dirt tank is full, the vacuum cleaner switches off and the symbol FULL appears on the display.
If you would like to wash the floor better or remove dried stains from the floor, there is a water spray on the floor nozzle. It is controlled by a button on the inside of the handle, so you can dispense water or detergent according to your own needs.
Vacuum quality test
We subjected the vacuum cleaner to a more difficult test to find out how much it can handle. Since JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro is mainly intended for wet vacuuming, but it should also handle normal vacuuming, we tested both.
We spilled milk with flakes, spaghetti with ketchup and carrot juice on the kitchen floor. We also supplemented the wet impurities with classic solid particles. We also spilled small sweets, ground coffee, rice and red lentils on the floor. Since many stick vacuums have a problem with larger solid particles, we were curious to see how it would handle it JIMMY PowerWash.
To get a better idea of how a vacuum cleaner handles such impurities of various consistencies, we made a video.
As you can see in the video, the vacuum cleaner did surprisingly well with all the dirt, wet but also solid. He even vacuumed the spaghetti well and left the floor perfectly clean. For better cleaning of the floor, we sometimes used a washer-free water washer.
In particular, we were worried that the soiled brush would not further smear the dirt on the floor, as it became significantly discolored after ketchup and carrot juice. However, we did not notice any unwanted contamination with the brush and we did not even use any cleaning agent, only clean water. The vacuum cleaner passed the demanding test to excellent.
Our experience after daily use
The total weight of the vacuum cleaner with an almost full tank for clean water is approximately 5 kg. Since the main unit of the vacuum cleaner is placed relatively low, in the lower half, the handling of the vacuum cleaner is not as simple as those with a motor and a dirt container in the upper part.
The center of gravity is thus much lower in this case, so especially carrying a vacuum cleaner is a bit more difficult. Since the manufacturer states a maximum endurance of about 35 minutes per charge, this is not such a problem. If you had more batteries and used the vacuum cleaner for longer, its weight would probably start to bother you slightly.
There are no extensions to the vacuum cleaner, it only contains a floor nozzle. It is not a versatile vacuum cleaner that could also be used to vacuum a sofa, car or less accessible places. The main unit of the vacuum cleaner can also be slightly limiting, due to which you do not have to get to very narrow places, whether under the bed or the sofa.
JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro is thus designed primarily for vacuuming the floor, which it handles well. It removes ordinary dust and various impurities perfectly. It is a bit worse with vacuuming carpets, especially if they have a longer pile, where dirt gets deeper into the carpet.
The big advantage is that it can vacuum even wet, because in this case you also vacuum dust into the water and you simply pour out the dirt. You will get rid of the impractical emptying of the dust container, during which some debris often gets back into the room.
The manufacturer boasts on its website that the floor will remain clean and dry immediately after wet vacuuming, which is not entirely true. The floor will remain clean, because the vacuum cleaner removes dirt perfectly, but certainly not dry. Just look at it logically and it is clear that the floor cannot stay dry after wet vacuuming. If we pass any liquid with a rotating brush, it will immediately get wet and so it will not dry out almost, so we continue to vacuum with a wet brush, which wipes on the floor, thus moistening it.
Cleaning the vacuum cleaner components
A small negative is the white rotating brush, on which you can immediately see the dirt, especially after wet vacuuming of colored impurities such as various juices, ketchup or coffee. Although it is possible to remove the brush after opening the cover on the floor nozzle, it will remain slightly colored after a few vacuumings. But as we mentioned in the introduction, you will also find a spare brush in the package.
As for further cleaning, you simply wash the front dirt container under running water, similar to a brush or filter. We recommend that you wash all these components thoroughly, especially after wet vacuuming, so that they do not settle in it and do not form mold.
Endurance on one charge and charging
JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro has a removable lithium battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. The manufacturer indicates a duration of 35 minutes per charge. Of course, we checked this data, as often the value given by the manufacturer is unattainable in real conditions.
We vacuumed a normal 3-room apartment with two small carpets with long hair, and for one charge in a weaker mode, the vacuum cleaner discharged in 32 minutes. In the stronger mode, it was 29 minutes. The endurance declared by the manufacturer is so real.
When discharged to 20% capacity, a red battery symbol will appear on the display, so at this point we have finished vacuuming. Charging from 20% to 100% takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.
Final evaluation
JIMMY PowerWash HW8 Pro is a great household helper. Its use for wet vacuuming will be especially appreciated by households with small children or pets. It perfectly vacuums common dirt and removes not only water, juices or coffee from the floor, but also copes with larger dirt such as cereal or spaghetti.
Wet vacuuming is a huge advantage, but it is not a universal rod vacuum cleaner, as it can only be used to vacuum floors and carpets. To vacuum a sofa, bed or less accessible places and various slits, you will have to reach for a classic vacuum cleaner, or a standard bar.
Its primary focus, which is wet and dry vacuuming of the floor, is perfect, so we have no major reservations about it.
