Content and quality of packaging
The 1MORE Aero wireless headphones were brought to us by the GLS courier from the seller Goboo (however, it has already ended its activity). They were packed in two envelopes - one paper with bubble wrap reinforcement on the inside, and also in a classic silicone envelope. The quality of the packaging from the seller is so excellent.
As for the headphones themselves, they come in a small square box with dimensions of 10.6 x 10.6 x 3.7 cm and a total package weight of only 181 g. The box effectively folds to the left side, where there is a description of the headphones with illustrations. However, the manufacturer chose a rather difficult to read font style.
Inside, the headphones are stored in their case, which is protected by foil and a translucent plastic cover. Under the headphones, we can still find accessories in the form of spare silicone earplugs and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. The adapter is not included in the package.
We rate the packaging as excellent, both in terms of quality and design, in both directions they are top notch.
Quality of workmanship and design
The Aero earbuds from the 1MORE brand are designed in the style of the well-known AirPods, i.e. with an elongated lower part that sticks out from the ear downwards. We tested the headphones in black, but you can also buy them in white.
Their style is simple and they don't try to be too different from the classic and proven design. One handset weighs approximately 4.9 g, has three microphones and also has a touch surface and unobtrusive illumination of the ends of the stopwatches. On the opposite side, there are pins for charging after inserting into the case.
Inside the headphones we find 10 mm dynamiconverter with a DLC membrane (Diamond-Like-Carbon). Sound engineer Luca Bignardi, who has won four Grammy Awards, helped tune the sound.
The case is all matte black and the top flips up. In the front part of the case, we can find an inconspicuous LED diode, which informs about the state of the battery by its color. Green means capacity above 80%, yellow 20-80% and orange less than 20%. We don't like this kind of signaling too much because we can't distinguish the capacity between 20-79% that way, which is a huge range. Fortunately, we can find the exact capacity in the application, which we will talk about later.
The case has an inconspicuous button on the bottom, which is used to turn on the headphones for the first time, switch to pairing mode and reset to the original state.
Pairing with smartphone and app
For initial pairing, just press the pairing button on the bottom of the case and search for the headphones in the list of Bluetooth devices. We tested them with the Xiaomi MIX 4 smartphone.
He immediately found the headphones and we paired them without any problems, making them immediately ready to use. For full use of all functions and settings, we recommend downloading the 1MORE Music application, which you can find in the Google Play store for Android smartphones or in the App Store if you use an iPhone.
The application does not require any registration or login, which we take as a big plus. Just download it, have the headphones paired with your smartphone and you can use it right away. The application is simple, but clear, as you can find almost everything you need right on the start screen.
At the same time, immediately after installation, the application adds its link to permanent notifications, so you can see its icon constantly in the top bar of your smartphone. However, we have removed this permission from the application, as it seems unnecessary to us. It's more or less just a quick access to open the app.
Sound output quality
One of the most important factors when buying headphones is of course sound quality. Here we have to admit that the preset sound is not entirely to our taste. The headphones do not have the best balanced sound, as the bass dominates and the highs and mids gently fade into the background. But there is an equalizer available in the application, and with it we were able to adjust the sound to our liking.
Since we personally do not like too strong bass, we reached for one of the preset equalizers, which is the Bass reducer. It mainly brings the highs to the fore, but a total of 12 preset equalizer styles are available, including the preset. We can find styles such as Bass booster, Acoustic, Bass reducer, Classical, Podcast, Pop and more.
If none of the preset equalizers suits you, you can also set your own, in which you adjust individual frequencies. You can also create several of your own equalizers, which you simply name after yourself.
As for the volume, it is completely sufficient for us. For us, the maximum volume was already on the edge, beyond which we would not be able to tolerate a higher volume for a long time, so we assume that those who like to listen to music really loud will also find it useful. Personally, we mostly had our headphones set to around 60% volume.
The sound quality is also good when talking on the phone. Thanks to the six microphones, the caller always heard us perfectly.
Active noise cancellation
The application or even the touchscreen of the headphones offers switching between individual modes of active noise cancellation (hereinafter referred to as ANC). We have available a strong or moderate level or also WNR (wind noise resistance) - wind reduction, as well as adaptive ANC, which automatically takes care of setting the level according to the current environment in which you are. The headphones can eliminate ambient sounds up to a volume of 42 dB in frequencies of 40-4000 Hz.
You can also turn off ANC in the application, or turn on transparent mode. It works well, but not as well as, for example, headphones from the brand Soundcore, which we tested recently (namely the Space A40 model). With headphones from 1MORE in transparent mode, we hear less ambient noise when listening to music than we would expect.
Overall, however, the ANC works very well as such, as we did not notice the surrounding sounds at all, which means that the headphones were able to suppress them very well.
Touch control and its customization
The touch surface is located on both earphones approximately in the middle part of the stems of the earphones. The headphones do not respond to one classic touch, which is very good for eliminating unwanted touches.
Double-tapping is for pausing and restarting playback, while triple-tapping should activate voice control, which didn't work for us.
In the application, we can change these actions and choose an action separately for each handset, either for double or triple tapping. You can choose to switch to the next or previous song, decrease and increase the volume, pause and replay, voice control and shutdown.
Application environment, settings and smart functions
As we mentioned earlier, the app is simple and its home screen offers all the important settings. In the upper part, we can see our headphones visually, together with the percentage of the battery of the individual headphones and the case.
Below is the ANC settings and its modes or levels. We also have the touch control settings, which we covered in the previous chapter.
We also find a function called Smart Loudness (intelligent volume), which can dynamican adjust the volume of individual sound frequencies, thus achieving more pronounced bass and treble even at low volume.
Another item is the equalizers, which we have already talked about. The penultimate option in the menu is to turn on surround sound, which you will appreciate especially when watching movies. The last place belongs to the firmware update.
After clicking on the icon of the 1MORE brand logo in the upper right corner, another menu will appear, which contains, for example, the setting of the so-called intelligent playback, which means that the headphones will pause playback if you take some of them out of your ear. After reinserting, playback continues.
An interesting function is the so-called burn-in. This is a function that helps to run in new or long unused headphones. It lasts for several hours and during this time only noise is heard in the headphones. According to the manufacturer, this run-in should improve the sound quality of new, previously unused headphones.
The last interesting item in the menu is the experimental functions, where there is the possibility of connecting the headphones to two devices at the same time and some kind of pairing pop-ups with information about the battery capacity. We did not manage to implement the last mentioned function.
Endurance and charging
The manufacturer indicates a battery life of 7 hours without active ANC and 5 hours with ANC. Each earbud houses a 40mAh battery, while the case has a 450mAh battery. This should be enough for approximately 5 recharges, which according to the manufacturer gives us a battery life of around 28 hours without ANC and 20 hours with ANC.
We used the headphones with active ANC at the strongest level with surround sound on and volume around 60%. After an hour of listening to music via Spotify, the battery capacity dropped by 20%. In total, the headphones would last about 4 hours before they were discharged to 20%, which is not bad at all.
Although the battery indicator in the application is in percentage, it only changes in increments every 10%. It does not show a completely accurate battery capacity. The box can also be charged wirelessly.
1MORE Aero: Final evaluation
1MORE Aero are interesting wireless earbuds with extended stems that resemble the design of the well-known AirPods. They will especially please fans of more pronounced bass tones, but thanks to several default equalizers or even your own, you can significantly adjust the sound to your liking.
The duration of one charge is around 4-5 hours, and the case is enough for about 5 more charges. They will also delight with interesting functions such as intelligent volume, connection with two devices at the same time or surround sound. There is also active noise suppression with the possibility of adjusting the intensity, including automatic mode or transparent mode.
However, the absence of support for more modern codecs such as aptX or LDAC will freeze, as headphones from 1MORE only support the old SBC and AAC codecs for Apple devices.
